I've kept every volume in the cardboard box and laid flat
under my bed. My rationale is that this spot keeps them
handy for me and we don't have another place in the house
that they'd fit.

I don't know specifics about the science behind the acidic
breakdown process, but I'd guess that if it is factual
information, it would work along the same lines as boards
and bags with comics. Keeping them in a controlled
environment and avoid extreme heat and you will likely not
have to worry about breakdown in your lifetime.

Will Eisner Spirit Volume 2 arrived this week.  This thing is huge!  It even has two pages of the Outer Space Spirit (Wally Wood) in it.  I love this one even more than the first Eisner - design is really nice and the pages are more prime Eisner.  It came unwrapped, except for the box - maybe a production glitch?

Picked up Joe Kubert Enemy Ace Artist Edition, another great book from
IDW. Since Joe never sold any artwork from his Enemy Ace stories this is
as close as I will get to owning the artwork. Great aerial battle scenes,
love his inks. I highly recommend getting it.

My copy of the second Eisner Spirit volume arrived yesterday.  Wow, what beautiful work.  I've seen it all before in various formats, but nothing quite tops this.  It's hard to look at this work and tell yourself that comics have advanced one iota since the days when Eisner was in peak form on The Spirit.

A comment on the absent shrink wrap:  the books are so well protected in the boxes it's hard to think that the wrapping adds much beyond another layer that has to be removed before you can look at the book.  If IDW can save a bit there, it seems like a good call.

Got the ENEMY ACE volume. Once more, feeling like I should seek honest employment.

JB,

I'll send you a copy of YOUNGBLOOD. That should take the edge off!

By sheer coincidence I was looking thru a copy of Previews I have and was looking at an Artist Edition ad. I thought man why do I even bother. So I was going to ask JB if there were any artists that he felt were so good. He said to himself why bother. I didn't ask it cause I figured JB's response would be Joe Kubert.

It brought a smile to my face when I saw your comment about Enemy Ace JB :)

Dang...my biggest issue with these volumes is being put into the
position of making a choice between them. I grabbed Kubert's Tarzan
AE and so passed on Enemy Ace....

I included the GROO comic for a size reference.  I can hardly wait to dive into this!
