…and thus completely missing the point!!!!

"Hey, look! I bought you the actual Mona Lisa for your birthday!"

Joe Kubert's ENEMY ACE is officially solicited in today's PREVIEWS
catalog. It has a blurp that indicates some additional art by Russ
Heath and Neal Adams.

The Alex Toth Genius trilogy books w/ slipcase have also bee
solicited. The set is $150.

And while not IDW, Graphitti's next Gallery Edition can now be
ordered. It's Frank Miller's RONIN and it's $195. That's a little steep for
me. Even with a page count of 300+ pages.

I made a few prints of an original splash page for friends.
You'd have thought that I had handed them gold. Eyes popped
and grateful, despite knowing immediately that it was a
copy.... but damn, those inks, that whiteout and the added
captions looked good.

Actually, that's supposed to be "couldn't". My ipad's predictive text
does odd things from time to time.

A person was upset a few pages back that the inks on the Kirby
edition looked too flat and could have benefited from a sharper scan.
This is definitely not a problem on the Mignola volume.

Even with my issues on the Steranko volume. IDW has set THE HIGH
standard for these types of books. If someone grabs the Simonson
ROBOCOP VS. TERMINATOR, Kelly Jones BATMAN, or even the
Frank Miller RONIN, let us know how they compare as far as
production quality. I'm curious.

I just got the JB edition on eBay, and I'm looking forward to it arriving.
I'll probably have to get the Kirby edition and maybe the Mignola and
Steranko editions as well. I can see joining this forum is going to cost
me a lot of money...

Marc, if I had to steer you towards my favorites in the series. I don't
know that the Steranko and the Mignola would be my next purchases,
starting out. The Will Eisner SPIRIT, Dave Stevens ROCKETEER and
Walt Simonson THOR volumes are probably where I'd go next. The
Eisner SPIRIT ARTIST EDITION is really something to behold. It was
drawn on larger boards so the book is HUGE! Besides, volume 2
comes out in Sept.

Stephen,

I have R Vs T. For me, it matches the quality of the IDW books. (As does the
Alien one from Titan)

R Vs T is wider than the normal books (it explains why in the intro) so that
might be something to consider if you have specific storage needs.

Thanks Stephen. Those would definitely be at the top of the list as
well.

Thanks Chris. One thing I've learned when it comes to storing or
displaying these; you'll probably have to build your own.

BTW, if you don't follow ComicCon news, I'll post what's coming after
IDW has it's panel.

Stephen, is there any indication what's included in that Gallery Edition? Without a content listing that's a pretty steep price for me as well.
