Good Luck Dave. Usually, if you miss the initial order you're probably
not gonna see it. But, the force might be with you.

If your order doesn't come in check IDW's sight. You can usually order
from there. 'Course there's always eBay.

I stumbled on the Marvel Covers edition a little over a
month after the May solicits came out, due to getting my
books from my buddy's place and not getting my books
regularly. I've loved every edition I have received, though
there is something about the anticipation of this multiple
arts, cover edition that has me especially psyched!

Today marked the release of the Jim Steranko's NICK FURY AGENT
OF SHIELD Artist Edition. For those who got it let me know what you
think.

Me? This is really the first time IDW has released one that had small
issues that bugged me.

Shipping- Usually, these come in a nice box that offers great
protection but isn't so big that you can't keep the book stored in it, if
you want. The box has a little sticker on it to let you know what tome is
inside. Inside the box the book comes shrink-wrapped offering a bit of
protection just in case the box were to receive some moisture. All ten
I've bought have been this way.
This one came without the sticker, which isn't that big of a deal. It
also wasn't shrink-wrapped, which considering the $100-$150 price
tag, to me IS a big deal.

Content-a page or two back someone complained that the art page
didn't fill the book page. I actually like the way IDW has done it
because it insures I'm seeing the whole page.
This book looks like it was rushed through the scanner. Some of the
pages don't have anything between the art and the bottom of the
page. All of the artwork is there, it just looks a little sloppy.

Now I realize they do an amazing job to track down as much original
art for these as possible. I also appreciate that where original artwork
can't be tracked down, they use a full size b&w copy to stand in it's
place so the issues can be completed. Usually, there are about
anywhere from a couple to a half dozen pages like this in the book.
When these pages come up, at the bottom it will say something like,
"This is one of ? Pages not scanned from the original art". This one is
missing close to a dozen. Not that big of a deal, but considering what
these books cost, is there a way to adjust the price point if these is
books get to a certain number of pages that don't contain scans of the
original art?

Now the good. IDW's graphic designer has put together a heck of a
package around these pages. The cover is the most dynamic to date,
and the title pages are gorgeous. I don't know what the graphic
designer is paid but they're worth every penny.

The scans themselves are really nice. Steranko did a lot of
underdrawing and wrote a lot of notes. it's all there.

All in all, it's still a really nice edition. But, if had to guess, it looks like
it might have been rushed out a bit to make a SDCC release.

me that NEXT WEEK is the release of the Mike Mignola HELLBOY

Now that we have a Steranko, can an Adams be far behind?

From IDW? Probably, unless it's his work from Marvel or Continuity.
DC seems to have an agreement with Graphitti Designs to produce
books like these. So, if a volume is done on Adams' BATMAN, GL/GA
or DEADMAN work, it would probably come from them.

Stephen I was also disappointed the Nick Fury AE wasn't shrink-wrapped for protection - that's the first time I've seen IDW send one like that.  I am going to let IDW know about it via email.

I know the second prints don't have the shrink wrapping. For those of us that started collecting late and had to rely on second prints to get Simonson's THOR, etc, the lack of shrink wrap is jarring at first.

Hadn't heard of it not being done on first prints though. Steranko's must be the first of the bunch to do so, I guess next week's Mignola will be the test to see if the trend continues or if it was a one-off.
