Thor's muscles, Vision's anatomy, Doom's pose, DM skin...wow !
What a perfect climax of a titanic fight !

Feel a bit strange looking at the space between DM's wings (above his head and where I-M flights) ? Cloudless sky ?

Dragon Man's exact nature has always confused me a bit. He's not technically a robot, because he was given "life" by Diablo which makes him sort of a golem/synthetic hybrid. How mechanical is his innards? Was this ever shown?

••

Since he was brought to life by magic -- one of the few times Diablo's magic has actually worked for a prolonged period! -- Dragon Man probably doesn't have "innards" in any sort of conventional sense. "No moving parts", so to speak.

Well, you know, Philippe, when you look UP, the ground eventually STOPS!

The Vision drawn as he should be! Cap looks great! The Beast of my childhood. That texture on Dragon Man...I can keep going...

"Hey Doom!  Watch the hand buddy!"

Thor looks like he wants to put an end to this whole ordeal.

I really really like how DM is grabbing Caps shield, like he's seen it before and Cap not letting go.  When I see a commission (again, we need a new term, these are so much more) I think of what a great idea the concept is, much like the Galactus/JLA piece, but the concept is only the start.  How these are executed makes the piece.

JB, do you do breakdowns or thumbnails on these pieces?

Occasionally, but years ago, long before I turned Pro, I started doing my "thumbnails" right on the page, full size. I try to keep the number of times I draw a particular piece to a minimum, having realized back in the day that if I did thumbnails, followed by layouts, followed by tightened pencils, followed by inks, a level of energy seemed to be sapped from the drawing with each iteration.

Incredible commission! Without a doubt JB's best of 2013. I have never seen DM drawn so well!

Lovely piece. The thing I enjoy about this commission, and the two I own, is that I can look at them over and over and still find something I missed before. Commission days are just such fun!

Great commission!

Although I generally favor DC's heroes, Marvel's villains are vastly superior. A concept like Dragon Man, done at DC, would surely have been goofy.

From the company that gave us "Killer Moth"? Oy!!

(Did you ever wonder when Batman made public such detailed info about the Batcave --- like, even that it EXISTS??)
