-- so I regularly give blood (platlettes etc) to the Red Cross. I can't afford to give cash.
Is there a monetary value to be attached for this?

Monetary value of blood is at its highest in the black market. I'd start asking around in some of the shadier neighborhoods. If you get started now, you'll likely have a reasonable estimate by the 15th. Good luck.

I could call around to a couple hospitals and ask what they bill a patient / insurance company for a pint, I guess.

You seem determined to rewrite the rules of this little contest, Trevor. Luckily for those who want to participate legitimately, I am the only one who can make such changes.Which I'm not. And now, to spoil the fun of those who seem determined to spoil everyone else's, I'm locking this threat until the 15th.

Speaking of those who would be determined to spoil everybody else's fun, as the deadline approaches, let me point out that the deadline is the DEADLINE. Contributions made after the 14th will be much appreciated by those who receive them, I'm sure, but they will not be counted in this little contest. When I unlock this thread on the 15th, you have until midnight, EST, to report your donation, but that donation must have been made by no later than midnight EST of the 14th.

So, here we are! Today we find out how generous some of us have been. Hopefully, we don't also find out what poor sports some may be.

I made a donation never seriously expecting to win. But if that donation holds up I think we may have an easy winner. Congrats!$200 to the Humane Society for me.
