Depending on who they get and how many they get, the cast of 'Walking Dead' can make a con into a complete zoo - and it sounds like they're going to have a pretty strong representation at the show. If you know what you're doing, it can be a lot of fun. But they certainly bring numbers through the door. Next con for me is Heroes in Charlotte which is the same weekend as my 40th birthday. Should be a good time.

The Motor City con starts tomorrow. Who's going, and when? Saturday for me.

What a great show!
Friday at Motor City was a nice, laid back day in which I was able to get a lot accomplished (see postings in the new art thread coming soon!). Saturday (today) was CRAZY!!!! People were downright ANGRY. A line wrapped around the entire convention center for people who had PRE-PAID tickets!!! And this was still at 2:00pm when I was leaving! Not sure what the problem was...maybe they simply sold too many tickets? Should've announced Saturday was sold out perhaps?
Anyway, it all worked out for me and I had a blast! Great to see everyone!

Just got back. Insane. INSANE!
I live a mere five minutes from where the show was held. It took me over an hour just to get onto the con floor. I waited on the road leading to the parking lot for 15 min, then drove out from the main lot, into the boonies, and onto a dirt road--which I'm not even sure was the con building's property--after paying for parking.
I walked probably over a mile to the building itself, then I ended up walking around a massive, surly line of people to the back of the building. Waited another 20 min. or so in line. Even advance ticket- holders were waiting and waiting.
By time time I got into the con, I was already worn out! The massive WALL of people was difficult to navigate through. Sensory overload.
I wandered the con floor for probably 3 1/2 hours. Snagged the bulk of DC's STAR TREK series and a few MARVEL TWO-IN-ONEs and FFs in the 50-cent bins. Good haul.
Had a great little chat with Paul Greer (faithfully serving at Barry Kitson's table--which was next to George Perez's!) and Steven Myers. I was told that I'd missed Mr. Hollon. Didn't make my best showing, due to exhaustion and low blood sugar, but I hope the guys enjoyed the chat.
And I'll let Paul tell y'all his parking nightmare story when he's back here at the forum.
I have no freaking idea where Stan Lee was, or even where the line for Stan Lee was. I'm just really, really glad I got the VIP/autograph package when he came to the area three years ago. As it turns out, that prior con was my one and only opportunity to see The Man.
Norman Reedus was also a total rockstar. I did a double-take when I saw that his line was literally hundreds of people deep. And, passing by, hours later, I did another double-take, because it hadn't gotten any smaller.
Cool to see Walter Koenig, Margot Kidder, Lou Ferrigno, etc. I'm not one for autographs or chats, though. Too shy. Just nice to be able to say I was in their presence!
Being a local boy, I've been going to this con for 20 years. First, when it was at the old Novi Expo, and now at the Suburban Showplace. I have never, EVER seen it this crazy.
Estimates are that some 18,000 people attended. Just TODAY. That's almost the full attendance for all three days of last year's con. Unbelievable.

Greg, You said it all brother! I live 25 minutes from Novi and it took me over 2 and a half hours to get from my house to inside the con. Once we got there at was so hot, stuffy and crowded that we only stayed for about an hour and a half. Never saw Stan either, must have been keeping him in the back under ice! Great to meet Barry(What a gent he is),George Perez(One down on my bucket list),and Scott Kolins(Current favorite). Supposed to go tommorrow, last day. I'm leaving early, early, early! Next year I think they need a bigger place!

This was the first time in at least 15 years since I had done Motor City. A very cool time hanging out with Barry Kitson and Paul while visiting the Motown museum.
Friday was the only day I made it due to work commitments but I was impressed with the crowd. Seeing all the JBFers that were in attendance that day was great! The night was capped with a very good dinner with Paul, Joe, Barry, and about 8 other creators.
My Con experience ended with me being held up by Simon Bisley and spending the car ride home trying to figure out what the hell he was talking about!
