Thanks for the info, Dave. I live in Tampa, so I'm just driving up for Saturday. I'll let you all know post-con how I made out, and take you up on your advice to do some pre-con research. Appreicate the help!

Jeff, you should be able to get Layton, McKone and McLeod ahead of time. I would hit Epting first. Then Cooke should have arrived (he is never on time) and you could try him or his predones. Then try McNiven.

Paul has it mapped out pretty good. George should be doing raffles for sketches through the Hero Initiative so stop there. Other artists tend to sit and sketch for donations as well. Whilce Portacio will be at the booth all weekend. Great sketches for a good cause!

To Jeff--Perez has stopped doing the raffle for Hero Initiative. Which used to cost $100 for the sketch plus how many raffle tickets you bought. George now is raising money by doing quick headshots for $40 per headshot at any show he is attending. Depending on the size of his lines, he might limit each fan to one headshot per day. If the crowds are not bad you can do more then one, as long as you are willing to go to the back of the line.

Layton usually charges a $100 for full figure con commission. McKone was $150 when I last did a piece with him. But to continue what Paul and the others have said, contacting the artist via email either to their Facebook page or website can help you budget your money.

Jason---George moved away from the raffle format at the NY Mike Carbo Comic book Marketplace show, where he was only charging $25 per headshot. He has continued it going forward, only bumping the price up to $40 per headshot.

Brian - I do realize what George does. I'm ONLY talking about MegaCon. The years he has been doing his headshots he has still sat at Hero and did the raffles while at the show in Orlando. The Hero booth is the center of the show floor at MegaCon and George is the favorite son so it is something that hasn't stopped.
I know this because I am actually there!

Thanks for all the info- you guys know what you're doing. A Perez headshot would be my # 1 target (that looks violent when it's typed out!). Should I bring my own paper/sketchbook/backing board for that? Edited for typo

Well please don't use backing boards!
I'd go out and get some nice paper stock to keep with you. I try to always have some.

Agreed. It's good to have. Usually not necessary but occasionally artists don't have paper.
