Wow.  This is definitely double the size of last year...

(I hope Paul Greer has energy to burn for this one)

Honestly guys I will be stationary most of the weekend. I will try to set up a few sketches before the show opens and I will just be helping run a friends table at the show. I may dip out a few times Friday and Sunday to see the show and get my Gillian Anderson autograph. Saturday will probably be safe to never leave the table. I am really trying to save money this year. Honest.
Bill, email me before the show and I will let you know what booth I will be at. Brad, I will just send you a text. ;)

I forgot Gillian Anderson would be there. That I'm hoping you get to do,
Paul.

The panel schedule for Megacon 2013 for the weekend now on their website.  It looks like a lot of fun, but I'm especially excited about what they're calling "The X-Tremely X-citing X-Panel," with Chris Claremont and Neal Adams in attendance, on Saturday afternoon (guess that title worked!).  They've also got Frank Cho listed. I'm assuming that's for his Woverine work.  Mike Perkins is sitting on the panel as well.  A little over three weeks away!

In addition to the St. Louis Wizard World convention at the end of March,  in the summer I plan to attend the Fright Night/Fandomfest convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Stan Lee is scheduled to be at both shows, and William Shatner is at the Louisville show.

This looked like the right thread to ask a couple of questions rearding my upcoming trip to Megacon 2013 in Orlando next month.  I understand there's a charge for sketches, but how about autographs from writers and artists?

Regarding original art, I know guys like Neal Adams and George Perez take pre-convention reservations for artwork you can pick up at the con, which I was too late signing up to arrange, but if I were to ask an artist to do a sketch on the convention floor, how much do you think they'd charge (ball park figure)?  There's everyone from Mike McKone, Steve McNiven, Steve Epting  and Darwyn Cooke to  Bob Layton and Bob McLeod.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Hey Jeff- On the rare occasion, some artists (like Neal Adams) charge for autographs ($5?). Most comic artists don't charge, but they might have limits, or specific times for signing.

As for sketches at a show...well, that can range from free for a quick doodle in a sketchbook to a whole lot of money. Rough bet is to assume that you're looking at $100 and up. Best thing to do is RESEARCH. Ask an artist on Facebook, or ask on a comic art-thread message board. We don't tend to get specific on what other artists charge here. Also, do some looking around to make sure you know what you're getting for the price.

Also, if you are looking for art- it's best to either contact the artist before the show (to see if they have a list, what they charge,or even if they are sketching) or get there on the show's first day- when it opens. Getting con art has become a bit of a sport these days, and lists can fill up in minutes depending on how many commission/sketches an artist wants to do during the weekend.

or just find Hickok and trail him all day...
