The Byrne FF one is going to sell like hotcakes is my guess.
••

But an X-MEN volume would sell better, I'll bet!

Ah, well!!

Not with me. I recognize that many believe that your X-Men work is
the best comics will ever get. For me, I'd rather read you writing and
drawing Fantastic Four. I know many here get it, but I don't think a lot
of people understand just HOW GOOD your run on FF was.
With money being tight, if this were X-Men, I don't know if I would
have bought it.

The very thing that makes these volumes so fascinating to me from an artistic viewpoint -- all the blue line editorial notes, the paste ups, the white out, the visible pencil lines; what I call "seeing the work" -- would be most distracting if I was trying to read the story as a story. Last thing I'd want would be a reminder that, say, Spider-Man originally said something other than what appears on the page, or that something in the art was changed.

Like Chris, above, wondering where a page unavailable for scanning has "got to", I'd find myself pulled out of the story by questions about the original "intent".

It would be interesting to see Artist's edition of Jack Kirbys Fourth World (and others) stuff that had Superman and his supporting cast in it.

Not as interesting as you might think. If the page below is anything to judge by, the notorious redrawing of Superman and his cast members was done before the pencils were handed off to Colletta for inking.

I wouldn't mind at all if they did some editions there were just random pages from different points in people's careers!  Would be fascinating to see the evolution of the art, I would think.

I own a lot of pages from various stages of Jim Aparo's career and it's FUN to sit down an look at them and notice the subtle changes to Aparo's approach over the years.  A volume of art like that, for just about any artist, would be like a Master's level course!

One of the reasons I have suggested that the upcoming hardcover collection of my STAR TREK work for IDW be printed in publication order, not "clumped" by subject. I think it would be mildly interesting to see the changes in the art as I get "comfortable" in that universe.

I would agree, JB.

It's always interesting to see artists evolve.  I certainly enjoy it.

I just picked up "The Original Art Edition Alien The Illustrated Story" by
Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson. Different than IDW artists edition, they
added the original script by archie along with samples Walt submitted to the
studio. Its really sweet.

I picked that up from Amazon a few weeks (month?) back, Brian.  It is REALLY cool and I keep it on my coffee table and guests to the house are amazed that a "comic book" can look so neat and be so artful!

One by one I'm converting civilians...it'll take some time, but I'll get there.
