Great news.

There's a "by" missing in the ad.

I enjoyed this period of your inking, JB... lots of nice line variations and shadows that make the figures pop. Still, i admit to not being the greatest expert on comic book inking. Just something about this part of your FF run that seems special... after Frankie's storyline ended i noticed your inking style change and i was just a bit disappointed. (Still, i completely respect your artistic need to grow and change.)

These issues will be interesting to see in their purest form. I recall not caring for the way FF#241 came out due to the poor printing process of the time making JB's tighter inks coming out all muddy and difficult to make out details.

I completely agree. There's a "roundness" to the inking... a "smoothness"... I can't put my finger on it, but it's very appealing. I also love how the blacks were spotted during this period.

"Special" is a great way to describe this period of work, Charles.

Is this available for pre-order?  I don't see it at IDW but did see someone say they ordered two of them.  I know these Artist Editions normally go fast and I expect this one to go even faster.

This is a special release isn't it?  It marks the first time JB inked himself and it was magic.

Sign up for the Artist's Edition newsletter, and they'll tell you when books are available for pre-order.  As far as I know, there haven't been any problems with IDW filling pre-orders for any of these.  If you wait until they hit comic shops, you face the possibility of sellouts (happened with Wally Wood, Walt Simonson and Dave Stevens), but I think they've got a pretty good idea now of how popular a given book's going to be and what kind of print runs they need to meet demand.

I particularly like the panel with Reed stretching around the blocks.
The inking looks convincing to my eye.

In hindsight I can see how JB's FF's tended to be looser and a bit less consistent than stuff inked by others....never bothered me as a reader then and  it still works for me.
