Does it mean you are going to use facts and/or tell stories based on the real Space program?

Early days of space exploration tied to the Next Men universe? STOKED! Reminds me of all those years ago with Space: 1999 (and what gorgeous covers those were).•• Again NOT THAT!!!! SPACE RACE was the early days of a fiction space program. This is not SPACE RACE. This the the imaginary FUTURE, not the imaginary PAST. (Seriously, now! How tough is this!) ++ John said: "roman à clefs" --- Does it mean you are going to use facts and/or tell stories based on the real Space program? •• AARRGHH!!!!!!!!!!

OK, but really, "roman à clefs" was kind of confusing.

I'm loving how IDW is giving us, the fans, a look inside JB's* head by letting these story's see the light of day. For Me these four issue story arks are a great way to have some great reading/art and to keep us thinking "Whats next?". * I'm sure its not always a safe place to be!

OK, but really, "roman à clefs" was kind of confusing.•• How was it "confusing"? I used it in reference to AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TITLE, of an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BOOK.

Oh, I forgot to say...I'm looking forward to seeing this story in print!•• So am I! Pure sci-fi is very often a hard sell in comics. Even an established franchise like STAR TREK has had only limited success. Attempts by Marvel and DC to generate sci-fi series have not done terribly well. I'm fully prepared for this to crash and burn, especially in today's marketplace, but at least I'm having fun working on it!

Nice! Thank you for sharing the news, JB. And thanks for a peek into the process of how you got there. Each time I hear about your discussions with Chris Ryall, I'm glad to hear that he is so supportive of doing new material. Especially the sci-fi stories, which is my favorite of your work.
I like that this is a completely new story, but with a connection to the NEXT MEN universe. Your return to the series in the last few years has shown that you have a vast universe on your hands with limitless possibilities. I can't tell you how glad I am you are exploring this territory, JB.
That this story springs from one of my favorite issues of the recent series is extremely cool. Eddie Wallace appears in issue #38, the excellent issue from NEXT MEN: SCATTERED that focused on Gillian. We've only seen a glimpse of Eddie Wallace, and I am looking forward to getting to know him better.

He both IS and ISN'T the same character -- and there is at least one fairly big mind f**k planned for both him and you, the readers! BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!!!
