That "Snowball" title font looks suspiciously familiar.

••

I wanted THE HIGH WAYS to have a "salute" to my all time favorite sci-fi series, so to create the logo and titles I used a modified STAR TREK font.

Thus, I also managed to continue the long-standing tradition of font makers, of taking an existing font and making changes to it to create a new one.

JB, looking at the cover you've shared, it seems you'vechanged up your signature style a bit. Is that right--or perhapsI'm just imagining things?

••

No change.

Are the starfield page gutters and yellow panel borders on all the pages because I think that's a pretty effective design feature.

Just curious, JB: looking at these, I am for some reason reminded
of reading Heavy Metal magazines back in the day.  Did this magazine
have any influence on you in the biz?

Yes, they are the design element I came up with to give THW its own "look" -- tho Leonard surprised me with the yellow in the gutters/borders.

HEAVY METAL introduced me to the works of Moebius, and that was definitely love at first sight.

bleedingcool.com has the image for cover # 1 just to let everybody know. I am really psyched about this series.

I have always loved hard sci-fi novels, and I wished someone would do a comic series in the same vein. Having it done by my favorite comic creator is amazing.

WOW! This looks great! It so hard to pure science fiction comics that
don't play the genre as a farce or super adult. The last one I found
was Fear Agent and it was more horror than sci-fi and very adult. This
looks to be a nice breath of fresh air.

BTW JB, between this and COLD WAR you are hitting on some great
genres. I love your superhero work as much as anyone here, but this
is better. Now that you have a rotation of spy fiction, sci-fi, and
superhero books, I'm in John Byrne heaven.
