That is Frelling awesome! I am a big fan of the Micronauts and I always wanted to see JB draw them. Great commission! The Micronauts series was the first comic books I ever got, that series is what got me into comics.

This just makes me long for a Marvel Essentials Micronauts that much more.

This makes me too much want to see a JB Micronauts series!!

And on most days I think Michael Golden can outdraw anyone.

I think this is my favorite commission of the year, and one of my favorite pieces of artwork period. Hot damn, do I really like this one.

Coming from someone who never pieced up a Micronauts comic, I want to read THIS one!! I appreciate it when John gets to work on characters that he's not associated with, he always does such a great job! Too good in fact, because after seeing how good they look I get bummed that I can't read THAT comic! Congratulations to the lucky owner!!!

It just dawned on me, that coming here to check on the latest commissions, gives me the same feeling as being a kid and running up to the spinner rack, excited to see what's the latest magic Marvel has came up with! THANKS JOHN!!!

I'm right in the middle of reading the original series right now.

This is one of my favorites as far as commissions go. Never would've expected one with the Micronauts and the execution is perfect. Excellent piece.

And extra points for an original JB Baron Karza figure nstead of just transferring one of the old logo's cornerbox figures. That's like a cool little "extra."

••

Actually, Chad, as you can read in the description in the first post, that's the corner symbol as it appeared on the first seven issues, as drawn by Golden (and here copied by me).

"Michael was SO far ahead of me in those days. When MICRONAUTS blew X-MEN out of the water in various fan awards, during its first year, I had no problem with it at all. The book WAS that good!"

That's a fascinating comment.  Not that you don't have enough to do, but I would love to see essays by you on the artists' work that you admire.  What and how it works, and how it may have influenced your work.

I read the description where it says "Your choice of villains...Psyclop..."
I went "Psyclop! Pick Psyclop!!!"
(I remeber him from an OLD issue of Hulk drawn by Sal Buscema)
A great comicbook visual, made better by JB.

I love the reflected lighting effect in his compound eyeball. Impressive. You may have gotten away with simply drawing little black triangles at the bottom corners of each square, but you made it look all awesome.
