Chris-Thanks, I was actually just playing around with a pose from JB's recent Demon issue and the sketching turned into playing around with some micron pens that I've been meaning to practice with.  It took long enough to feather the hair that I thought I would post it so it would at least be seen.  Truly a sketchbook excercise as it's on plain paper.

Darren-great Death.  Damn you for being so good.  LOL

Oh, yeah I do! I started this commission and got as far as here:

Before i realise that I didn't like it...flat and compositionally uninteresting. So I went back to the drawing board. Sketched out another one:

And then, more comfortably with this one inked it up!

Sometimes it's worthwhile to admit that you don't like it and take what you've learned [the stuff you don't like] and rework the image.

Great piece Andy and if I may be so bold as to suggest that when you're going for that amount of "body" in hair [and doing it this well] Never feel shy about laying in some swatches of black from the drop shadows! Like where it goes behind her shoulder!

The idea being that you will help reinforce the perspective. Look at Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary's work for great depth shadow work or Gene Colan for fantastic drop shadows.
