That Lady Death rocks, Vlad! Inked digitally, huh? You must have quite a
collection of brushes set up!

No, just one for inking, but I do vary the size of it up and down as
needed.

This might be a dumb question, but... How do you find or create good
brushes for photoshop? I'm pretty new at it and somewhat frustrated.

Cool Lady Death, but the way...
Lots of nice stuff. I like that this thread draws (so to speak) people out of
their art hibernation! How many other Byrne fans are latent Artistes?
COME ON OUT!! DON't BE SHY!!! It's fun and the water(color) is fine!

These are the brush settings I use for my inking brush in Photoshop. With
airbrush feature turned off, hardness set to 100%, and Wacom drawing
tablet to help with variation of the line. I vary the size of the brush usually
from 8 to 10 px, working zoomed in on detail, and 20 to 40 px when
zoomed out. I also work in grayscale mode, at 600 dpi resolution.
Hope this helps,
Vlad

And I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy me a Wacom. Just
haven't done enough drawing until recently.
and while we have this visual reference here, I use the "Scattering" effect
in the Photoshop brush tools to do Kirby Krackle. I'll try to do a piece to
show some variations on this.

Hi guys. I figure that I'd join the fun as well. I recently update to
WindowsXP and my scanner does not work with XP. I was home today
playing around with colored pencils and markers. AI did a sketch of my
girl as a vampire. Please forgive the quality of the image.

Haven't posted in here in awhile, but I've been watching everyone else. Great work guys!
Here's the first two pages of a proposal I'm currently putting together. The first one took about 3 hours to do, because I haven't done perspective stuff in awhile.
This second page I did suddenly last night between 9:30 and 11:30 pm. I was doing something else and suddenly had the 'snapshot' of the page in my head that JB always says he has before he starts drawing.

Nath- I really like that! The colours are very nice. I may have to pick up some colouring pencils now too. :)
Roger- Great pages! Good luck with it all.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I always appreciate it when my comics style get's praise. I also like to do paintings, which seem to be more appealing to the masses, but aren't as gratifying to me on an artistic level. If people only understood how much time and effort it takes to make a comic book. I've labored over anatomy, perspective, pacing, storytelling, layout, design and more when doing a comic page(s) and it doesn't even get a second look. While being able to "copy" a photo is often gushed over. It can be discouraging.
To that end, I will always be in absolute awe of JB and his work ethic. I've often wondered what level I would be on if I could ever put in daily work on my art(much less 8 hours a day, 7 days a week!).
Anyway, here's one of my aforementioned paintings for visual reference:
