What if you took the Rocket Exhaust and put it in the first pic?

Gerry the only problem I have distinguishing between the 2 is the "details". I take it that you were going for a more photorealistic view in the second version but it also seems that you went out of your way to change the look. The appealing part of the first image is the flair. The mass in the first image appears to be a moon while the 2nd image appears to be a planet. Why? Granted both of the masses are somewhat generic within their scope but the 2nd one seems even more so because of its photorealism. Add some mystery to it. And where's the purple horizon haze in the 2nd image? That's part of the flair in the 1st that gives you the idea that this is a piece of art, something with a little more soul than just a photo image presented in the 2nd. Don't get me wrong I think you're very talented and did a good job on both panels, but in order to truly compare and contrast, I feel that they need to be presented on a more even playing field.

Thanks for your views Rich. changing the look of the second was the only way to get the picture of the earth used. While keeping the intention of the artist, it turned it into something totaly different. The only thing i like about the second is the rocket trail which was coloured without any picture addition.

The first one is problematic because no matter what i do with the clouds, they just dont seem to fit the image, they look stuck on and fake.Thats why i posted them here in the sketchbook section, any and all comments wil be helpfull.

Thought you'd never notice.

I just read the Asimov robot series a few days ago and started looking for a
robot image to use as avatar. Then I saw the Robotman page.

Lots of mood and soul.

You're on the right track, Joe.

Sorry I haven't been around guys, but my schedule will swamped for a while,
but I'm checking in and digging all the artwork. Michael, Jonathan, Marc T,
Gerry, Daniel, wonderful art all of you. Chris, you should be pleased with
yourself, your art has really advanced in a short time.

Thank you Vlad. Recently I've had a lot more free time to spend drawing and I think that's really helped.
