Yeah, the two brats are starting to surpass me, the apprentices are becoming the masters..

(Why do I suddenly feel the urge to wave a lightsaber?)

To everyone involved in the calendar project:

My schedule's going to be busier than I thought so I won't be able to complete a drawing for the month of April. So to anyone who missed out on getting a month or getting involved with it, here's your chance. I thought by letting someone else work on it now, it would give them enough time for the January 15th deadline. (No late work here! :) )

Maybe I can be involved in another project another time. Thanks for letting me have a shot at this one.

Matt

Meant to say, Matt, that it's a shame that -you- wont be participating this time around, however it's nice to hear that your keeping busy!

Thanks. I've got a lot of friends from out of town coming by to visit over the next month. Besides, I couldn't come up with a good idea for a drawing and I'm so rusty, even my stick figures looked bad. LOL

Alright - let's see...

George - you've got wonderful detail in your work, especially your cross hatching.  you use is very well to achieve depth.  All are very nice, but the blue alien stands out.

Darren - your digital art is great!  I can see that with a bit more hours under your belt, you'll be closing on Vlad as far as quality and execution.  I'm finding that it just takes time and practice.  Looking forward to seeing more of your digital stuff!!!

Chris - I said it before and I'll say it again, your penciling is advancing nicely.  your linework is showing great improvement.  one thing to try is to build up your darks by using a pencil to do it, layer on layer.  takes longer, but you'll get some fantastic shadow - light transitions.

Anthony J Lombardi - "Something has been on my mind  along the lines of us hijacking the thread.." - I've thought the same thing and wondered if we shouldn't be playing over in the Fan Fic section, but Darren is right.  If JB didn't want us to play in this thread, I'm sure he would nicely ask us to take it somewhere else.  I also wonder if JB doesn't pop in here more often due to fearing being sued over "stealing ideas".  Unfortunately some folks do have an agenda...  One thing we could do, and maybe someone who knows more than I do about it, is to post our images to another website, like Image Shack, and link to them instead of directly uploading to JB's site.  Anyone know if this would help???

David - REALLY like your strips!  better than most of what pops into the newspaper.  fun and lighthearted.

John C. Harrison - you might not post often, but when you do, man!  very nice piece there.

Chris Yeoman - "A very rough and quick sketch that I did while I had a moment:" - Ahhh... The famous DD forehead grab!  very effective.  good sketch.

Darren - like the DD sketch.

Shane Montgomery - very nice SG piece.  I hadn't really thought about it until i looked at it the third time, but I like the gold trim around her cape.

Chris Yeoman - Firestorm piece - LOL!!!

Shane Montgomery - very interesting kid flash.  I really like the inks on that.

Mikael Bergkvist - tell your sisters they are very accomplished.  nice stuff!

Matt McAlister - C'mon Matt!  Grow roses with me...  Just kidding!  I understand your situation.  I've got a wife and 3 kids and the time i get to do art is very limited.  i've promised a lot of folks some inks, but i think i've got them buying into the "growing roses" line for now...  Look forward to seeing you post more stuff when you get the chance.

Let me take a moment to plug the Invisible Woman project going on in the Fan Fic link.  Take a moment to see what a lot of talented folks are kicking in for that.  And you can see me growing roses over there too!!!
