It's funny you saying about "Byrne" being there. I find that I "see" him most in the under-pinning of my work and then all my rendering is designed to pull "me" out of that underpinning and not John;-)

Hey James-
Yeah, there was a time when drawing more than 3 characters
would give me hives but now i try to challenge myself and fit in
as many as possible.
Its sad that most guys dont experiment with layouts of that
nature,
it expands your thought processes(composition) and
developes hand/eye co-ordination.

Damn, Anthony, that's a mighty fine Superman double-pager, and I love the Batman at the bottom.  Very cool work, as always.

MAC - wow.  I wish I could be bored like that!  I also wish you wanted to still work in the business.  I'd buy your stuff for sure!

Matt, I'm -currently- using mechanical pencils. One with a 2H lead, one with an HB and another with a 2B lead.

I -prefer- using just regular old pencil but I find myself plagued with lead breaking during the sharpening phase-LOL.

The reason for the various leads is dependand on the paper I use, not indicative of any changing stages of the artwork.

Thanks Darren. Have you ever tried lead holders? I find myself switching back and forth between them and mechanical pencils all the time.

Haven't -yet- got my grubby paws on any.

Will rectify this in the New Year most likely.

Matt McAlister - " Have you ever tried lead holders?"
~~~~~
Not to cut in on your conversation, but I use one that I've literally had for at least 15 years.  I started off as a draftsman, so it was a sort of natural progression.  I use like a 4H lead in it, but I need to get some softer leads.  The 4H has helped me to (sort of) learn how to not push too hard on the page when drawing.
And now, Green Lantern in COLOR:
Kept the colors flat, but added tone using Photoshop stipling.
