Marc - I'd say for 9 minutes that's not too bad.  I like it.

I'm not too depressed. :) One thing I try to keep in mind is that these are all fans of JB. Obviously, we as a group have a superior eye for quality art. If I was in the "what's in your sketchbook" section of "Liefeld Robotics", I doubt I would be so impressed by the talents of the other artists. The thing that depressses me is the time I wasted not working on my drawing skills.

Aaahhhh....  You and I share a common thing here.  I've been in the same mind set for several years thinking if I had stayed in art school AND gave a flip, did the work and not just sit around thinking one day being a comic book artist would just fall on me.  I was pretty addicted to drugs in those days, which is really not an excuse because it just compounded a really lazy work ethic, but I've been clean for 10 years now and I'm just having fun here doing little things here and there.

I know my stuff isn't near the pro quality that others have here, but I'm learing and the great thing about this place and all the folks here is that at least I'm drawing and doing the creative things I've always wanted to to.

Anyway, you -are- working on your skills :) :) :) with all of us here.  It's just taking a little longer than you planned.  And for me I'm glad you're here.

Thanks man! One thing I try to keep in mind is something I heard not too long ago. Someone said that now days it takes people until their 30s to get to the point where our parents were in their 20's. I really believe this. It took me this long just to figure out who I am and what I really want to be doing. Now I just need to figure out how to do it. haha

Just keep trying different stuff. That's what I did. I tried so much stuff I eliminated all the other things I thought about doing and now I see what best suits me. For me that is art(drawing/sculpting) and inventing. I think invention ius what I am most suited to do. The problem is that inventing costs a lot of money to do. So now I am searching to find some way to make money through art to apply to producing my inventions.

It isn't going to be easy... but I really don't have any alternative.. I am just not very good at anything else. haha Believe it or not, that is freeing in a way -- to finally know that, it helps you commit.

Jeez, will teach me to skip the weekend again. :)

Bill - The box cover looks great, but didn't you just finish the art? That
was fast.

Michael - Wonderful pencils drawings, I especially love the figure studies.

James - Nice pencils and pretty colors.

Matthew - Nice design.

Marc - Nice pieces, I really like the Satana.

Tom - Just a wonderful pieces dude.

Mark - Nothing to be "nice" about, those sketches are quite nice.

Vlad,

Yep, pretty quick.

HEY, I've got good news!
Over the past weekend I submitted three acrylics to
Salem, IN's Old Settler Days art contest. There were
two categories, professional and amateur. I entered
as a professional.

In each category four prizes were awarded, 1st, 2nd,
3rd and 4th. I took away a 3rd and a 4th! Together the
cash winnings equal a 2nd place, so I'm pleased.

This is only the second juried competition of this
kind that I've entered, but I'll probably be doing more
in the future. Not so much for the awards, but for the
learning experience.

Below is the painting which garnered me a 3rd prize:
