Marc,

I really hope that you reconsider and keep posting. You are not ignored,
sometimes people are just too busy to respond to the overwhelming
amount of work posted here.
As far as the critiques go, well that's a different matter. This thread
basically came about as a place to showcase awork. There work shows
artists at their varied stages of creative development. Some are
professionals and others are just starting out, as such the skill level will
vary. Some of us who have been doing art for a while are used to straight
out critique, others may not be used to that sort of treatment and may be
hurt. As this thread was not really meant for that sort of interchange, I for
one don't feel comfortable critiquing work posted here.
One solution may be for the poster to clearly state that he or she is
looking for a serious critique. But, keep in mind that it may an unpleasant
experience and it's not a personal attack.

Vlad

Marc, I just wanted to say that I feel you shouldn't stop posting. You seem very discouraged because you haven't gotten feed back on your artwork. You shouldn't. If it is the case that people don't respond enough because they' don't want to say an unkind word .Well think about it, they are tryin to be nice. So you shouldn't get that upset. You shouldn't also take the no replies as a sign of your work not being of the same quality as someone elses. No matter how good I may be or anyone else on this board there is always gonna be someone else who is better. hell J.B. could posted something and blow us all away.
I hear what you're saying about wanting your work critiqued .So that you can learn and get better. Mayhaps in the future you should say you'd like feed-back on a particular piece. That way we who view it can reply without fear of offending you. I think the last thing someone would want when they are posting something is to be assaulted with criticizm  when we weren't looking for it.

That being said Keep posting ....Also for me as a rule i don't offer my two cents worth unless i'm asked. If you do well i'm extremliy honest even with the people who's work i like alot. Hell if John Byrne himself asked me what i thought i'd tell him even if i disliked something he did.

Vlad I'm with you, I think it would be a loss to the thread if Marc stopped posting.

However, I simply don't always have the time to make a real study and suggest solutions for where people are going wrong. I do from time to time make more in depth comments but again it's all time permitting.

Also agreeing with Vlad that if people -want- C&C's they should specifically ask for them. I know that Mac has done this on a couple of pieces where there was a character "placement" or "order" issue he was looking to resolve.

I note however that some people are not shy about asking direct question: What sort of tool did you use to do that? What settings do you have for this? and everyone seems amiable enough to answer those.

For me I like the thread as it is. To suddenly be compelled to do C&C's on every post I think I'd simply stop posting and lurk.

Marc isn't of course saying -in every case- I think rather he's frustrated, as some others may be that "Nice work", "Great sketches" just aren't providing the information they are looking for. But then, those people (myself) posting those comments aren't mind readers and have no idea what these artists are wanting to hear. Which backs up the "Badge up your questions in the post with the artwork" Like:

Here's a piece I did today. I feel I was succesful at doing [a] but feel I was let down by how do the artists here combat ?

Then we'd all have the clue required to answer the post accordingly, with a little "Great work" added in for ego massaging that we all like so much...well me-LOL
