Two of your best Joe!

I highly recommend placing the figures into a scene.  The contrast from figure to background can then be less jarring and feel more natural --- like the way the shadow grounds them.

Thank you, SQ. (I get about 15 minutes of coffee break every day before work to draw, so, background drawings are almost impossible.)

Roger that Joe.  It feels like cheating to find time to practice drawing.

I don't know if Mr. Byrne monitors this thread, but just in case, I didn't want him to leave this world without seeing lesser hands mangle Storm's new Elsewhen uniform. :)

I started from a panel in issue 24 (page 4), and it was looking promising with me copying what I could...but it didn't take too long until I over-worked it, and it lost that signature Byrne Goodness.   Even the very mild foreshortening of this perspective still managed to trip me up.  (sigh)

What can I say? He's a master at his craft. (Hands alone!)

For what it's worth,  I hope it brings a smile to your day --- a uniquely ELSEWHEN Storm hommage.

Looking more closely at the finished version vs. Mr. Byrne's original, I see how I got the perspective wrong.  It's tempting to make another attempt...but then, isn't it always. :(

It's funny how I can can only really absorb my own drawings and diagnosis the flaws after I scan it.  Maybe because it's smaller?

There's a lot of work on that image, SQ. Noone can fault you for not giving it your all. I, myself, have found that I work best on pure shame. When I was a traveling musician, I'd hear recordings of shows I had thought were good, only to be vastly wrong, in my ears. I swore not to make those mistakes again. Once, I put salt into a batch of Strawberry Rhubarb tarts instead of sugar. That was a day I shudder at....won't do that again either. As for drawing, I have so much to learn, and I've been at it on and off forever. Here's to 10,000 more drawings!
