I recently read Batman and Catwoman have a daughter.

How old is Batman these days anyway?!

Anyhow...that news got me sketching...even though the idea is nutty to me.

Trying to take up and learn how to draw after quitting 20 years ago. This is my online Sketchbook. A lot of the recent stuff is from Byrne's run on Fantastic Four because that is what I happen to be reading at the moment. Content warning: I am about as amateur as they come.

Y'know, a lot of you guys are GREAT! Good, clean, art, and it looks real. I'm envious... I could never do that. A hearty to well done to all of you!

Been dealing with a lot of stuff lately...haven't had a chance to post anything.

For what it's worth, here is an slightly updated version of a Justice League poster I first created for the theatrical release.  I had a lot of complaints about the Snyderverse and with the way that the JL movie turned out.  Personally, I thought the Snyder Cut was a big improvement.  But really, at the end of the day, I just like seeing my favorite heroes in action. It's not perfect...but at least it's a bit less gloomy.

For fun, I decided to try my hand at inking a scan of a pencil drawing by the legendary Jack Kirby of The Avengers. The finished version of Kirby's art was published on the back cover of the "Marvel Treasury Edition" #7 (1975) that featured the Mighty Avengers, and was inked there by Frank Giacoia.

Giacoia altered Kirby's pencils quite a bit on that version. While I also altered a few details as Giacoia, such as removing the nose on Iron Man (a feature he was actually given for a period in the early 1970s, but later thankfully dropped), and making a few alterations so that Vision and Yellow Jacket more closely matched their traditional looks, I kept to Kirby's pencils more faithfully than not.

I did not reference the published, inked version in working on this piece, so it was interesting to go back and see what differences there were between my ink job and what Giacoia had done. His inks made Kirby's art more in line with the 1970s' Marvel aesthetic, such as how he changed Hulk's features, but other than the costume adjustments, I wanted to stick more closely to what Kirby had done in the pencils.

Anyway, I am posting my final inks and Kirby's original pencils for comparison.
