Thanks all!  And a BIG welcome to Willdaves!  Darren, I know I joke with you a lot, but seriously, can you talk some about any possible Kevin Nowlan influence?  You've spoken before about other influences.  The reason I am curious is, I see it in your work (esp. around lips) --- but could be completely wrong.

Also, I have never asked this, but I am the WORST computer colorist in the world, actually the worst colorist in the world, period.  Could I beg someone to take a crack at my Batgirl or Wonder Woman (with lasso) pic?  Just curious to see what they might look like.  I've actually never seen any of my pictures in color.

Have a good Monday guys!

"can you talk some about any possible Kevin Nowlan influence?"-Marc

Marc, I have folders of B&W artwork that I've printed off from the web that I use for quick refs to thumb through. I use these as a study tool. Instead of sitting down and reading a comic, I'll pour over these various pieces of work. They are in no dicerning order beyond who drew it. This frees me to appreciate the line work for what it is.

Now that said I would count Kevin as an influence but not a conscious one. I totally love his artwork and his inking. I regularly thumb through his folder. But I think sub consciously there is a link I've put on the use of thick and thin lines between Hitch/Neary and Kevin. This visual bridge is in the cross hatching, that I assume Bryan Hitch admires in Kevin's work. I say this because I have noted a simialrity there. Paul Neary's inks add more texture than you get in Nowlan's inks and I lean more toward Pauls inking than Kevins.

I obviously have allowed myself to be influenced in areas that appeal to me on both a consious and subconsious level. So I'd expect that you would see, Hughes, Nowlan, Hitch, Davis, Byrne, Adams, Lopez's influences mixed in to my work in various places. You might only see parts now and then dependant on where those influences tend to surface.

Thanks, Darren. I would LOVE to see you try a "consciously" Adams-heavy piece.  We are talking Art, not Neal, right?
