I need some work on anatomy.  I sketched this on the computer with a tablet.  I know it is not that accurate which is why I need to work on anatomy.  I know it is a bit strange.

Yeah, Michael that is totally wierd but I think I can see where you are going wrong. He's got no head, hips or legs! Phew, at least these are pretty basic elements that you should be able to work on with comparitive ease...sheesh thank goodness you aren't confusing your Gluteus Maximus for your Pectoralis Major* Anyone getting the well known phrase there;-) Because if you did confuse the two...(join in)...You'd be arse over...

LOL. I couldn't see anything wrong Bud!

I knew I forgot something important.

I wasthinking the difference between a drawing and painting.  I think with drawing you are draing the structure of an object.  But a painter does not paint the objects, he paints the light bouncing off of the objects.

Obviously that is an oversimplification but there is a different concentration.

Here's a work in progress of mine. I'm a big George Romero fan, so I thought I'd work on one of the living dead.

You are absolutely right Michael. The impressionists are a great example of how a painter concentrates on light and colour. Or I guess you could stretch that example further to pointalists.

When doing comic work, I find that perspective is the driving factor. I'm working in a 2D enviroonment and have to "foll" the eye into believing that it is in fact under 3D constraints. So I tend to have one I on the structure and one eye on everything else.

It's probably why they always use "Basic" shapes in "How-to's" ;-)

Thanks, Darren.  It's the first time in a long time that I've used a crowquill and brush on a piece. I've used the Pigma Micron pens for the better part of a decade now, and re-adjusting myself to the brush and quill is taking some doing.

However, at this past San Diego Comic-Con, the majority of the advice I received on my work included "use the crowquill and brush." Based on what I did above, I'm inclined to agree. The linework I'm getting with the quill is way superior to the micron pen. I'm a little heavy-handed with the brush still. Working on it.

Stephen, don't worry about being heavy handed with the brush. The fine motor skill come with years of practice;-)

When practicing with the brush, try doing the strokes with your elbow off the table...it will help free up your movement. That's just to warm up.

Hey, Vlad, or anyone wanna take a stab at inking and coloring this.  SpiderMan obviously pounding one of my own creations....Nostrum (or actually an avatar of Nostrum).  Nostrum is a greyish/green color and sortof has "biker shorts" on.  Color is up to you.  I have seen some really top notch stuff here.

BTW, whatever happened to the Studio 108 idea.  I have some character(s) I would contribute to the cause.

Please let me know what you think.  Thanks, Jeff.
