I don't think young Tom has yet slipped into the realms of Public
Domain!

You might want to double check. While stranger things have
happened, this was at the beginning of my free ebook I downloaded
through Apple:

The Project Gutenberg EBook of Tom Swift and his Airship, by Victor
Appleton

This eBook is for the use of anyone anywhere at no cost and with
almost no restrictions whatsoever. You may copy it, give it away or
re-use it under the terms of the Project Gutenberg License included
with this eBook or online at www.gutenberg.net

There's a difference between the original stories being public domain and the CHARACTER being public domain. Much as I would love to take a swing at Tom, I'd be much surprised if doing so didn't catch me a Cease and Desist letter from some movie studio's lawyers.

The copyrights on some of the earlier Tom Swift novels are probably public domain, being published as early as 1910.

However, the character has more or less been in steady publication since then, reappearing about every other decade. Thus, many of the stories are still covered by copyright and the name trademarked.

Really like the images posted so far. Always loved your space/stars a lot. JB and sci-fi are a great combination.

Having recently reread all of JB's STAR TREK work, I would have to agree that
he does science fiction very well.

OH my goodness I LOVE science fiction stories. JB, what's your
favorite science fiction story? There's a lot I've not read and would
appreciate your thoughts.

A lot of people on this Forum just had the title flash thru their heads, I'm sure.

CITY AT WORLD'S END, by Edmond Hamilton. Someday, I will do a comicbook adaptation. Someday. Someday. Only been trying for... fifty years!

John, would you say this was your first work doing a combination of sci-fi and a western?

Possibly -- but just in case there is any misunderstanding here, let me point out that my reference to wanting to do a Western, upthread, was a JOKE. This new series is NOT a Western, and the Western that IS in the pipeline is a separate series entirely.
