I just saw this, I think it fits nicely on this thread: SF/Space Art From the 50's/60's

I hope this is the series where John Byrne finally says something deep and profound about the medium of comics. Something that makes me feel smart for reading it, rather than entertained.

Very cool!

However, lest this create an internet meme, let me hasten to point out that this series is NOT going to be in the style of 50s sci-fi. It would be hard to find too much in the way of "nostalgia" here.

I love science fiction art from the 30's-mid50's.

JB, are you a fan of John Berkey? The sneak you posted, IMO, has a
bit of the same vibe.

Well, if you're gonna get nasty, I'm gonna leave!

Seriously, tho, Berkey and Sid Mead are two of my absolute favorite science fiction illustrators. Incredible stuff.

Berkey blows me away with his very painterly approach. Slash, slash, daub, daub -- and there's a spaceship! Incredible!

Here's a little something more to whet your appetites.

One of the principle sets in this series will be appearing quite a bit, so, like the Bridge of the starship Enterprise in my STAR TREK books at IDW, I decided to built a computer model. Here's a glimpse…

One of the things I learned from using the Bridge model in the STAR TREK books, which I carried over to this job, is that such sets have to be built with "breakaway" parts. I have to be able to remove selected elements to let the camera have full access. Kind of like the way the section next to Spock's science station would disappear when they needed a shot of him "thru" it.

For a split second I thought, Justice League Satellite.

Can you point me to some visuals that would have made you think that? I am not all that familiar with the "satellite" period of the JLA.

I thought you meant the interior shot I just posted. Did you miss my earlier post where I suggested we might just skip comparing my wheel in space to every OTHER wheel in space? I KNOW there are a lot of them.

Love the "chairs"! They look multi-functional, sit/stand/liedown....very cool.

That is if, I'm correct at how they function.
