Speaking of the movies, people keep telling me FIRST CLASS is really good and really the best X-Men movie yet -- but there's no way I could ever watch it. Just from the trailers I can tell there's WAY to much Christory in it!

JB, X-Men First Class was indeed a really good movie. However, it was a really terrible X-Men movie that was not faithful to the original source material. Which is why I hated the movie. They had a perfect opportunity to restart the X-movie franchise and make a faithful adaption of the source material and they blew it. I cannot and will not recommend this movie to anyone expecting a faithful movie adaption of the original X-Men.

All that nonsense that Chris shoveled in about Xavier and Magneto having been buddies in the Before Time, for instance. Read Stan and Jack's early issues and try to find that!

But we run into an issue of "faithful to what". The Claremont version of the X-men and Magneto has lasted quite a long time and I have no issue with it since it's become the 'truth'. So should they alienate the folks who grew up with THAT version of the character and just say "well, that's not how he was created!" Even TV show characters change over the run of a show... like Joey on Friends.. Shirley on L&S... and lots more. When they adapt something that's been around decades, should they only be beholden to the initial concept or what's shown itself to endure and thrive? Magneto as tortured soul who went bad, good, bad, good, bad... buddies with Xavier then notsomuch.. that's who he is now. Untilt hey re-do it sometime and decide to change that. X:FC was a fine film. My girlfriend, who only had a passing familiarity with the comics but knows the movies, enjoyed it. Fassbender is amazing in it. Do I feel they just drew names out of a hat for the mutants in it? sure. Did it really bug me to the point where I can't enjoy the movie? No. It was a different interpretation of the X-men. Just like I didn't recognize my Batman in Begins of DK or my Superman in Returns or my Spider-man in the trailer for the new flic, etc etc etc. I enjoyed it for being a well-made movie.

Hi JB, It is great that you revisited this piece! Seeing your modifications, I took liberties (please forgive) and wanted to play along as well! As I was looking at it, Colossus, he didn't look as cohesive as the rest of the team. So I modified his costume a bit. In addition, Wolverine could have his tight mask similar to the mask we are more familiar with. Also, I figured if Storm could have her hair out so could one of the guys, that was my reason for the change to Nightcrawler -- plus he looks more dynamic that way -- IMHO! Lastly, I trimmed Storms mask a little!
Why does Cyclops looks so happy in this drawing JB?!

I don't know what it is, but every change to Nightcrawler looks great to me...

I'm bidding, but I know there are members of the board here who have deeper pockets.

I don't know if this is featured anywhere else, but I wonder in case I wanna comission a JB piece with characters showcasing a costume redesign of my own, if that's ok?
