Xmen First Class.  Throw as much shit as you possibly can.  Something has to stick.

FIRST CLASS is the only X-Men film that I never tried to see, one way or the
other.Even THE LAST STAND I ultimately checked out on cable, and only
based on how surprisingly well Kelsey Grammer nailed The Beast. But I see
nobody remotely recognizable in FIRST CLASS (Beast comes the closest, but
looks terrible this time around, so....)

I watched First Class on a plane and found it enjoyable. I don't like the line up but thought Fassbender and Mcavoy were really good in thier roles.

It's not X-Men, it's a facsimile at best but there is some good acting and some good humour. And some really good scenes.

And the best Magneto helmet in a movie yet.

But it's not the X-Men

And it was way better than Green Lantern.

But it's not the X-Men

"Yes, whenever I go into a restaurant, I just expect to be FED. I don't expect to be given what I asked for, or that it should actually taste like what I asked for."

Hahahahaha!  My attitude probably stems from lessons learnt...the DD movie for example made a complete mockery of the comic books...i cant watch the scene with "Elektra" and Matt in the playground fighting without cringeing....and X-men 3: the last stand...was well....shit..as was FF 2: rise of the silver surfer...

And its sometimes the same with any kind of adaptation....you go in with one view / one vision of the final product and its something else....

I'd love to see what a great film maker would do with Next Men...!  I vote Zack Snyder..loved his work on Watchmen!

It was the X-Men!  Unfortunately though it was FOX's crazy, off the rails, movie version of them!

I do agree though I thought Fassbender was fantastic!

Wow, what a difference of opinion.  He is about the last person I would put on the Next Men.  That and the fact I think "great" may be stretching it a wee bit with him.

My reason for choosing Snyder was his relatively faithful adaptations of Watchmen and 300....both pretty entertaining, visually appealing but also respectful to the source material.

McAvoy and Fassbender were both good -- it's a shame that so much was errant in the film, as these two could have been great in a faithful X-Men film.

The Watchman movie could be made by any director willing to shoot only what is in the comic book. Zack Snyder did a good job of staying faithful to the material, but I agree with Jason in that labeling him "great" because of that is a stretch. He is very good at demanding and obtaining the imagery that he wants. I cannot call the director of Sucker Punch a great director.

Raj - Do yourself a favor and pass on that movie!  It was just nonsense.
