JB - Please never doubt in your heart how important your work has always been to comic fans:

Great page, but oy!  And it's not even relatively important, as far as the book goes.

Great page from a historic book.

Is this the most for a Byrne interior (not counting splash pages) at public sale?  I can't recall anything higher than this.

This is a popular page. If I recall correctly, JB has recreated this page as a commission. This is not a page usually sold on the market. Pages like this usually sell higher if they have had only one or two owners over the years.

Personally, if I had that spare money I would commission three full comics from JB. But I do understand the love for that vintage.

That whole book is class....

Hold on, what am i thinking....the whole run is class!

Byrne and Austin firing on all cylinders!!!!

Marvel really should commission an:

Uncanny X-men: The (what if Claremont was) Hidden Years...

where John and Terry just run wild!!

Since it's Terry Austin getting the moolah, I am happy. Still, the buyer
should think long and hard how much JB art he coulda had for the same
price.

The Death of Phoenix is a piece of comic book history!

If i had that amount of disposable coin...it would be mine...

I will have to wait! and be content with my page from X-men 126...for now!

It's a very nice page, but sheesh for that kind of money I can think of other JB pages I would rather have -- to say nothing of the possibilty of new artwork.

I must admit though that I don't have the attachment to the Dark Phoenix saga that so many do.  It's a great story, but really it wouldn't even make it to my Top 10 of JB's work let alone comic stories in general.

Is Terry Austin selling that?  It doesn't have his and JB's signature on it, which would indicate it came directly from Terry Austin.

Brad B:  "They're nuts"

I don't agree - if I had a bunch of money, I would pay for original art from anything Dark Phoenix.

My emotional connection to the story is strong.  And I have a personal fondness for original art from published work - every time I save up for a commission, I end up buying a page from a favorite book that JB has had published.
