As with many of you, just seeing these images and thinking still fills me with chills. I too 'knew' it could not be Guardian that did. Ha!
And I think the main reason they never fought together (in my obsessed with these guys frame of mind) is because they would have comfortably wiped the floor with anything put in front of them.
BEST SUPER-HERO TEAM EVER! :)

I loved this book while John Byrne was on it. It was SO cool! I hate everything that has been done on it after he left. I almost appears that subsequent writers have intentionally smeared the characters in an effort to smear their creator. Not cool.

The new Alpha Flight series is canceled anyway. Launched as a mini. Converted to an ongoing then canceled a month later. Of course Marvel knows what they're doing.

Oh, I hadn't heard that it was canceled! There were a few interesting things they did in the series, like using the original Am-Can exoskeleton suits and making Cody the antagonist, but the worst things for me: - Marrina's alien punk anti-human behavior and style - Snowbird shifting to a dinosaur

- Snowbird shifting to a dinosaur•• .............? Well, okay -- Snowbird can only shape-shift into the form of living creatures, and there ARE living dinosaurs on Marvel Earth. However, this brings up the old saw about how an Eskimo warrior, no matter how hungry he is, will never eat a penguin. . .

Do we bring up Mac's death every year at some time...??
I feel like we do.

Years later, with all the numbers in, whom do you sense was the FANS favorite Alphan?
and....
does it make you a Proud Poppa or a confused Weird Uncle?

Years later, with all the numbers in, whom do you sense was the FANS favorite Alphan?•• Guardian is clearly the winner as far as favorite costume, but it was Puck (at least until his origin was "revealed") who seemed to be the most popular.

AF 12 was the first back issue I ever bought at a comic shop.

From a writing/behind the scenes point of view perhaps, but I imagine that's only because he has no emotional quirks or baggage. Beyond that though, I DISAGREE.
Mac is a good guy. And that's how I like my SuperHeroes!
Maybe his personality was a little vanilla and didn't have the requisite angst we've come to expect from comic characters, but that works in his favour. (As a real person he would've been nice to have as an acquaintance or friend)
Besides, I think he's interesting BECAUSE he's hero being heroic for no other reason than it's the right thing to do. No tragic origin just old-fashioned "Let's fight evil and help the innocent!" (Some writers say Superman is a boring character for the same reason, and needs an edge which I suspect is why he's always shown now with glowing red eyes.)

The interesting thing that I come back to in my mind is that Mac is always so even-tempered but was teamed with a guy like Wolverine.
I'd love to see JB show some details about their early working relationship, and that period in Logan's career showing his first adventures in costume.

I believe that was there, Lars, just not decompressed into a year long soap opera.

I was so depressed when Mac died.
I bought all subsequent issues and mourned with Heather, Eugene and others and cursed Byrne's name. Then John left the book and within 6 months I bid a final farewell to the team.
