I'm surprised we haven't seen more! Really, the faux INVADERS cover is the only other one. Plenty of recreations and reimaginings, but. . .=============== Do you approach creating a scene for a cover differently than a typical standard commission? •• As many of you have noticed, whenever possible I try to have the pieces "tell a story". This is especially true for covers, in general. The main difference is that a cover shot does not have to be internally "logical". Covers are more symbolic than the "snapshots" of most commissions. So I don't have to worry quite so much -- or, at all! -- about how the characters got to that point, or how they would get out of it! Sort of like the "action montage" pieces, where a lot of things are happening in the same place that would actually be spread out over time and space in the story itself. (Having the pieces "tell a story" is one of the reasons I strongly discourage potential customers from trying to "write" their piece. Very few people really think in pictures, and more often than not, when a customer tries to "write" a piece, what s/he comes up with is an incredibly complicated mish-mosh that really needs multiple camera angles, and sometimes multiple panels, or even pages! This is where having been on the job for more'n tharty yar really serves me well!!)
