"Bond's weapon of choice, no? "

Not quite.  Bond is famous for the Walther PPK (which looks similar to the table photo JB posted, just to the left of the Coke bottle).  The Walther P-38 has  a longer barrel, and hence is not as easily concealed.  Both guns were designed by the Germans in WWII for use as side arms for officers.

Trivia - Hitler killed himself with a Walther PPK, the same gun made famous by James Bond.

JB, is there going to be an ongoing supporting cast in  COLD WAR?

Three or four recurring faces, yes.

LOVE that cover.

Hell, I love 'em both. My favorites so far.

Train is a classical element of spying stories*, i guess. And that's a good thing.

PPK! Ok. I knew the Walther sounded familiar, tho.

Seeing that signature on THAT cover with THOSE weapons is ... somehow ... surreal.

JB is going where no JB went before.

I like it, I like it!!!!!

I love fight scenes on top of trains. Don't know why, just do. My eagerness to see this went up several notches.

I've got a friend that likes war stories and such, so I'm thinking of picking up a second copy each month to pass off to him because he'd probably enjoy it.

Plus, by ordering a second copy, my LCS gets that much closer to the 10 copies needed for me to get those variants!!!

Spy stories?  That is hard one to come up with.

Paul Gulacy did something I seem to remember.  Steranko on SHIELD.
Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson on X-9.  Modesty Blaise.  Man From UNCLE (some spin-off from that too by Gold Key).

Spy vs Spy ( ! ).

Some of those were comic strips and not comic books.

Cold War is really going to be fun.  The covers have been excellent.  I love the experimental ones a lot.

And to think, Joe made it out alive!

*********

Yep!

And by the way, I always try to avoid spoilers of any sort so it was quite a struggle for me when JB plopped down the complete pages of original art to the first two issues in front of me while I was there!!  I ended up flipping through them (natch).  Should be a fun series!
