I don't know whether it's intended but this guy has quite the world weary look, like he's seen a lot of unpleasantness.

How was the snow effect done, JB?

Same way I did the stars in the TREK books. I used a "spatter" setting on one of the brushes in Photoshop, this time with the normally circular "dots" converted to elipses turned at an angle.

Funny you should mention that. I've been wishing we could afford to get Tom to paint a few variant covers -- or even the main ones!

Let's pass the hat!  Joking.

Yeah I think Tom Palmer's moody inks would look really nice over this series.

It sure has a different feel to it than a lot of your work.  I can't pinpoint what it is but I love it.

First Next Men comes back, then we find out Aftermath is coming, now this.  What next?

This is just crazy exciting to get teases like this.

Tom Palmer paints??  Anyone have an image of his work?

I think I might enjoy Palmer's inks on a non-superhero book like Cold War.

First off: JB's inks have never been better imho! Glad he's inking all of his work these days.

Second: Never been a huge fan of the Palmer inks / JB pencils combo. I feel JB gets lost in the the mix.

Tom Palmer painted the cover to Avengers #255, his first in his retiming run
with John Buscema, and may have done a few other covers after Big John
left. I have a vague memory of him painting some of the covers to Steve
Eptig's issues.

He also painted a promo poster for The Pitt (one shot spin off from the New
Universe) and also a piece in one of the 9/11 tribute comics.

Why is it always so shitty weather like that in Russia? It's snowing and even when it's summer it looks like Tarkovsky's Solaris. I was in Russia ias a kid and it was like that. It must be something about where it's located on the Earth.

Russia is a lot like Canada -- ten months of snow, and two months of poor sledding.
