I'm very interested in this. I've long held that JB hasn't done enough creator owned material and this era is right up my alley.

Awesome idea for a series.  That first page is spectacular.  I love the idea of a black and white edition.  I hope more issues will be done this way.

Any particular reason why you decided to make the character a former MI6 agent as opposed to a former CIA agent?  Just curious.

Originally, I was going to call him "Mark Stagg", after a friend of my Dad's when I was a kid, whose name I thought was very cool. I mentioned this to a friend, tho, and he immediately said "Sounds like a porn star." Ugh! Time's change.

***

Ah well! The name Stagg struck me instantly as that of the meteorologist who persuaded a day's delay in D-Day. What a great British name!

But Swann suitably gravid with metaphors -- nice.

Since I'm not a fan of James Bond, I hope Michael Swann will be as distinct from him as possible. The artwork, I'm sure, will look great.

How much you enjoy COLD WAR will probably come down to how much you enjoy, in general, "one man against the system" stories.

Swann probably has more in common with Joe Mannix than James Bond.

Sounds fun, I've come to appreciate your non-superhero comics a lot over the last few years. I'm looking forward to this.

Thanks! It's been a strange odyssey for me, from being absolutely terrified of drawing ordinary clothing -- and therefore very much at home on a book like X-MEN -- to actually PREFERRING to draw people in normal street clothes.

As far as the series is concerned, he barely has a first name!
