WOW, this is exciting news!
In my mind this is even more exciting than if JB was working on Bond. Fleming's character is iconic, but has so much baggage; not the least of which being . . . which actor to use as the model for the character?

It will be fun to see a JB character find his way among James Bond, Harry Palmer, George Smiley and co.! •• And thanks for reminding us that there are plenty of folk playing on that particular field! I have done what I can to make Swann as distinct from Bond as possible, but I know the similarities will, in the minds of some, far outweigh the differences!

Fleming's character is iconic, but has so much baggage; not the least of which being . . . which actor to use as the model for the character?•• Hoagy Carmichael! But -- as much as I would like to try my hand at Bond, this is going to be a better place for me to put myself, I think. None of that "baggage". No one to dispute my "interpretation". And, best of all, no one to tell me I should be doing the movies and not the books!!

And no having to have the main character drink martinis if you don't want, either!

Great news and a stunning preview! This is a book I'm excited about-- ship hits sand and in comes Swann. Looking forward to seeing the man himself. Here's hoping for years and years of Cold War and Swann!

This does look like fun. That first page is already sparking anticipation with me. With JB's Next Men, the recent Jurassic Park mini, the incredible commission work he is doing, and now this! This is a true golden age for being a JB fan. As I finally feel myself unable to get into Marvel/DC stuff anymore, I am so grateful to be able to read comics for fun, and JB's work is the antidote for all of the burnout I've felt with the big two. I will definetely be picking this up.

Glad to see this will be taking place in the early days of the Cold War, and not the Jet-Age / Swinging 60s that some people today associate the spy genre to be in. (For the record, I do like the 1960s-style super-spy films, TV shows, and spoofs, but JB's ASSIGNMENT EARTH series already did a good job covering that territory for me).
