An artist is always looking for perfection. The Japanese have a word for the pursuit of perfection; Shibumi.•• Perfection is the domain of the gods. I have to content myself with a Personal Best!

These layouts are inspired! Must be Alex Toth looking over your shoulder that day!

JB - I'm curious if your technique for illustrating fight scenes differs vastly dealing with non super powered characters? •• A lot less flying and crashing thru walls, anyway! In COLD WAR I am going to be experimenting with some different techniques -- different for me, anyway! -- when it comes to the action scenes. We'll see if they work!!

Reading the SPIRIT ARCHIVES lately, I noticed with amazement how Eisner's action sequences were SO alive and frenetic, and with no super-heroic powers in evidence. Something I've always loved about your work JB, as well.

Is that a mute sequence? The composition is terrific, but I don´t see a lot of space I´d kill for word balloons.

Cool! Thanks for the peek, JB!
Are "layouts" done on what will ultimately be the final page of art?

This project isn't my first choice for what I'd like to see you write and draw, but you've surprised me in the past with projects I thought would be pretty bad but I ended up loving, so I'm kind of excited to see where this will go. The first page looks really nice.
