September is right around the corner, right? How long before we can see a cover?

I look forward to this series. As a fairly dedicated fan of tough, practical espionage fiction (Matt Helm -- the wonderful books, not the wretched movies, and the nearly perfect Sandbaggers Brit-TV series), the small glimpse seen here looks very promising.

I don't see this referenced in the IDW July solicitations / books due out in September.

IDW Sept

Ahh, the Sandbaggers, what a great lost gem that show is.

Anyone with any interest in "spies" should check it out.

And if you really want to get involved watch Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Smiley's People. Alec Guinness is so good, it was the role he was born for. Amazing story and such fine acting and locations.

It is without a doubt my all time favorite film or as it was TV show.

Very much looking forward to John's stories from this new series.

Cheers, Peter

Peter,

I agree. However, both Sandbaggers and the Smiley dramas tended to concentrate more on the "corridors of power" side of the espionage game, and weren't as glorious when looking at the agents in the field. Not a criticism, mind you. I love the battles in a bureaucracy type of story, which is why Sandbaggers is still my all time favorite TV series -- bad budget and effects made up for by excellent writing.

Judging from what scant information we have on this new project, I suspect we'll see it more from the prospective of the man in the field. Looking forward to a serious take on that.

I don't know about "Sandbaggers", but John LeCarré's secret agents had the
most cool unit names, like Lamplighters, Scalphunters, Babysitters...

Dunno how "cool" it is, but after having done a little research, I decided Swann was formerly employed by MI6's Section 10 -- which I will steadfastly resist ever referring to as Section X!!

If this was Marvel I'm sure it'd be marketed it was Section X!!
