Brad, there is a bit of a difference between finding out and actually having the script in hand.  ;-) 

Be that as it may, there is no way a writer for any of the rebooted books found out a month or less before the announcements.  Bare minimum, they got the assignment 2 months prior to June 1.

But I've always been a huge proponent of getting the work done first before anything else.  Period  If the writer is timely in their scripts, you should be timely in your art.  If the writer is late, then you ask for help or the editor is already aware of it and is doing what they need to do to get the book done on time.

I know "life happens" and anything out of the ordinary or out of your control can cause a delay.  But there should be no delays because a creator wants to play on Facebook or Twitter or Wii or whatever.  Work comes first.  Unfortunately, some of these "superstars" don't feel that way...

I was referring to the rumors that said some artists didn't have scripts to work off of at the time of the announcements.  Hard to finish a book if you can't start it...  Not involved with the day to day workings at DC obviously, but based on the rumor mill (whatever that's worth) some creative types had plenty of notice, but others not so much.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting books done ahead of schedule, and think they should have had at least one (preferably two) issues of every book in the can before the big announcement.  But I think in some cases, it's DC's handling of the situation that is to blame for near term creative team shifts more than poor work ethic on the part of the creative types. 

On to first looks at October and they're launching MORE new books?  All mini-series, but geez.  Percentage-wise, they're getting more successful with me, though.  I'll be getting two of those (Shade and the Legion Secret Origin mini).  :-)  

(That said, I think a third Legion project is a bit much, even if it is just a limited series.  Ah well, not like I don't have the money for it.)

It will alway fail with peole who have that mindset and because of creators who cater to it. Its the curse of continuity becoming more important than creativity or actual entertainment. It's Mark Waid asking "When will the real Superman return?".
 I dont care which "origin" is "valid". Just give me a good Superman story.
