I can picture it now. All the kids out there are saying "Hey! I've been missing out! Where can I find me a local comic shop so i can buy some stories about Superman in this wonderful new suit?"
Or maybe not.

I preffer by far this T-shirt/jeans/small cape to the armor version.

George Perez writing Superman?
Jesus Merino penciling Superman?
Here's an idea - let's have Peyton Manning play wide receiver and Reggie Wayne play quarterback. I mean, they're both football players, right?

I think the Superman jeans would look much cooler with holes and rips instead of having patches. I mean really, who has patches on their jeans, thats so unrealistic.

You know I think at this point both DC & Marvel deserve mercy killings.

Workclothes are waaaaay better than that goofy armor in the Perez drawing. Maybe disaster struck on Superman's laundry day?

I'm looking forward to checking them out. They could be great (which would make them MUCH better than anything they've done with Superman the last few years) or they could be a trainwreck. I hope not.

I still think this new line is all about digital sales and while they still care about the monthlies, digital is there main concern and they'd rather lose a portion of the collector market if they can build a digital audience.(And don't knock Perez writing; he wrote my favorite Wonder Womans. I don't know if Perez can still draw a monthly book over the long haul.)

After seeing these pics, 3 costumes for Superman, 2 for Superboy, I wonder if we are seeing multiple earth versions like Brian suggests instead of a shared universe. That might actually make it more interesting, but not sustainable.

Perez was at least the co-plotter of his Action Comics run back in the late 1980s, and those were some great comics, too. Superman's return to Earth, the Brainiac Trilogy, Maxima, the Krypton Man...those were some real standouts of the post-Byrne era.
Shame about that costume, though. George Perez on Superman's traditional costume is about as can't-miss as you can get.

A tee-shirt, patched blue jeans, work boots, and a cape. Yeah, that looks MUCH better. Or maybe it's a towel tied around his neck. Maybe Superman has decided to look like us looking like him for a change. |

It's the same old same old rebellion, exactly the same as before.

One day, Frank Miller may stand trial for, among other crimes, coming up with Superman-in-the-shadow-with-glowing-red-eyes.
