All Star Western has a decent pedigree at DC, dating back to the 1950s. Though it did take over the numbering of All-Star Comics.(Ousting the JSA) More than a few DC Western heroes got their start there. The second volume (issue 10) is where Jonah Hex first appeared, so there is a certain symmetry there,.

I've even thought the reboot could be DC's "Ultimate" universe...

I'd use the other hand.

Maybe backhanded.

It's probably a case for his red shades.

Okay, Giffin hasn't been worth much in recent years, but I do like him as an artist returning to his old Kirby Defenders ways. And I have to say, I like this monstrous, brutish OMAC. That said, I'd never read something DiDiot wrote. Not even by accident.

I hope that isn't King Faraday as leader of the Blackhawks. I love some King Faraday, and some Blackhawks, but they're mutually exclusive.

I was thinking the same thing about the left-breast gun holster. Maybe they need to strap on a few more pouches to round it out? Maybe an extra gun strapped to his head?

They HAD to go and fuck up JONAH HEX, didn't they?

***********************************

He's been in 19th century Gotham before, so it's nothing new.

Also, as a side note, I did a search to verify that fact, and I came across a LOT of news sites that are picking up what DC is doing.  Not just the comics sites, but actual newspapers and TV news shows.  Here's a few related to Sgt. Rock and Jonah Hex as an example:

LINK 1LINK 2LINK 3.

I just pulled a few at random, including a Washington Post article.

So for those wondering where DC is going to find these new readers, it seems they're doing a BIG push here to pull them in.  Whether that succeeds or not has yet to be determined, but I give them kudos for hitting non-comics news sites with the releases.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but in looking at this relaunch from DC's point of view, I just don't see many of these creative teams "moving the needle" on sales.  (And I've been pretty excited about the relaunch, from a selfish perspective!)  To me, the art is really "beautiful," but doesn't look like "comic book" art to me.

I wonder what DC's target audience is with the relaunch - if it even had any.  If I were in charge of the relaunch, I would issue a mandate that the stories have be simpler and more dynamic and the art less muddy, over-produced and cluttered.  But that's just me.  Maybe the "kids" like their stories and art cluttered and dense.

In the long run, I wonder if this relaunch will increase sales.  Will Azzarello and Chang cause Wonder Woman to sell more than 50,000 copies per month?  I don't see it.  Chang is a competent artist, but would you go out of your way to buy his stuff.  He fits into a category of "okay" artists who don't ruin a book for me, but also don't make me say, " have to have this."  Jim Lee?  Sure, he'll move the needle.  But who else?
