Superman's look reminds me of George Costanza with a toupee. You get used to seeing the character one way, then they try and make a silly change and it just absolutely looks ridiculous. I mean really, a one-piece and a belt with shapes? Can you scream "hooker" any louder? And why does the MAN OF STEEL need an amorized-looking costume for?
Boy this is terrible. Obviously I'm not who DC is trying to appeal to with this, but it just feels like they made all these ridiculous looking changes, just to get rid of the underwear.

Huh. Two more additions to the list of today's releases. I always had a soft spot for Suicide Squad (although I don't know about Harley's new look...); is anyone here familiar with Adam Glass' work? Anything recommendable or reprehensible?

This thread is depressing/hilarious. Each costume is worse than I would expect, and my expectations are/were pretty low.

I'm with Matt Hawes: the Superman costume redesign has convinced me that
this reboot is a storyline, not a permanent thing. Within six months to a year,
it will be over, and some aspects of the reboot will remain in the "correct"
timeline--like, say, a single Superman.

I was expecting a full reboot with the first of the infinite crisis miniseries (I'm sorry but I really can't tell them apart anymore.) But now it seems like they keep changing, rebooting and fouling up all the time. And this latest stunt seems like it's already begging to be retconned out of existence. Some of these projects seem interesting, but they either cry out for a completely different writer/artist team or there's at least one element that completely jumps the shark, does a triple somersault with a one-legged landing, does a U-turn and jumps the shark again.

Marriage certainly did more damage to Peter Parker than to Clark, but both
were huge UNNECESSARY changes.

I liked both marriages and thought they enhanced the characters involved when handled properly and not as albatrosses to be overcome. Just sayin'. :-)

They can always fix the costume without restoring the old continuity if they're so inclined. That said, I'd be more likely to buy more DCs in a year if it WAS just a temporary storyline... :-)

My theory, Dave, is that Grant Morrison's Multiversity series will restore
things next summer. (In fact, I think these books take place on an alternate
Earth or Earths.) I think it's The Age of Apocalypse on a bigger scale.
