My sincerest condolences, sir. Sounds like you both were at peace with your final conversation. May he rest in peace.

Something jogged my memory this morning, reminding me that I said I'd post these pictures when they came back from the framers -- which they did several months ago!

Anyway, these are the City Clerk of Calgary and his staff, circa 1912; and my Dad and his staff, when he was City Clerk, circa 1982.

Times change, hm?

Whoa. He might as well have been a restaurant manager! That's some
serious estrogen.

Very cool pics, JB!  Great to see your dad with the crew he worked with.

These kinds of pictures seem so mundane when they are taken, but as the years progress they take on so much more meaning.  They become so invaluable.  Right after they are taken, they just look like people standing around.  But seeing old pictures today is like a time capsule of fashion and social trends.

Thanks guys.

My "family", by the way, is ME! No brothers or sisters, and Mom, of course, gone for almost four years.

I have four cousins out there, somewhere, but I have had no contact with them in decades. Wouldn't even know how to go about it. (Sometimes I wonder if they are in any way aware of me -- of their "famous" relative. More likely I vanished completely off their radar when my parents and I moved to Canada.)
