Never read any Greene before. He writes with an appealing elegance.

And yet.

James Ellroy: This Storm.  The second novel of the Second LA Quartet.  I think Dudley Smith is one of the greatest villains in fiction. 

The President's Club by Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy.  How presidents relate to their living predecessors, and how ex-presidents relate to each other.  Perhaps because I knew almost nothing about it, the start of the book, covering Harry Truman's rehabilitation of Herbert Hoover and Hoover's resulting accomplishments on Truman's behalf was the most fascinating to me.  Eisenhower's initially testy relationship with Truman was well-known to me, as was Kennedy's initial disdain for Eisenhower until the Bay of Pigs Disaster caused him to go running to Ike for his advice and political support.  Nixon, Johnson, Ford, Carter, Clinton, Bush I, and Bush II are covered, with the book going into Obama's 1st term, primarily focusing there on his ambivalent relationship with Clinton.  The well-known post-presidency friendships of Ford and Carter, and Bush 1 and Clinton, are examined.  

I agree about Dudley Smith. I'm starting THIS STORM by James Ellroy tonight. I read PERFIDIA over the last two weeks as a refresher. I know that he changes some lead characters with every book, but I find it interesting that Bill Parker and Kay Lake are not among the 4 "main voices" in THIS STORM. Some skimming (weird habit) shows me that they are in the book, though. 

So Jozef, a question. Who is the voice behind the intro Reminiscenzas in PERFIDIA and THIS STORM. I thought it was Kay Lake, but now I'm uncertain. Maybe reading the book will answer this, maybe not. I suspect we may not know until the fourth book, or perhaps I've missed something that you caught. Any ideas?
