I'm not sure how successful this whole thing will be, but I'm willing to give it a try.

If you're new here and haven't read any of JB's DOOM PATROL, I'll buy an issue of any comic you recommend if you'll pick up DP #7.

And just to up the ante...  I'll read and review the entire first volume of THE ULTIMATES if someone who has never read JBNM will buy and review an equal number of sequential issues of that series.  (I've only read one full issue of THE ULTIMATES.)

I think almost all of us fans are so set in what we want to read, we don't even want to consider anything else. On "comic book Wednesdays" I like to take my time and flip through much of the new stuff and take a good look at most of the new covers. I suppose I'm a bit of an oddball that way because most others pick up what they are looking for without looking at the other stuff.

Most of us will only read superheroes. Many of us will only really be interested in X-Men or Spider-Man, and then only by specific talents. It stands to reason that Byrne, with such a large body of work, will have fans that would try his new books only if it features Superman, or big Marvel characters, or the X-Men done in exactly the style drew in three decades ago !

Of course then there are the people that don't normally participate on this board, that came here, initially, only to strike a "deal" with someone.

Victor - I just ordered the first volume of Dragonball online. I look forward to reading it, and posting my impressions.

Thanks man. I'll be getting Doom patrol #7 soon.  I want to turn people on to the Dragonball manga who hasn't been influenced by the tv show.

The odd thing is, that a lot of people who like Dragonball, don't read American comics. im not really sure why that is.  It's part of the reason it didn't do well in the direct market. Most people who liked the book, buy it at book stores in trade paperback form. So Viz decided to get rid of the single issue format.

I hope you really enjoy it. I have close to twerty volumes. Im in the middle of the  Demon King Piccolo storyline right now.

I've ordered the very first Viz volume from Barnes & Nobles.

It would be interesting to see if Manga-only readers "get" the Doom Patrol.

Thomas, I'm already buying Wolverine (though I missed #21, dagnabit!), so I'll try one of the others. The LCS guy said U2 #1 was on re-order, so maybe I'll get both 1 & 2.

PS- If you get the Wolverine "Must-Have" I'll agree to buy Doom Patrol #8 when it comes out.

May I suggest that you decide whether DP #7 was good enough for you to read the book regularly before making that offer, Thomas?

I did read Doom Patrol #7 & posted my comments on it on this thread (somewhere near the bottom of Page 2.) I enjoyed it slightly, but I'm not sure whether, or not I'll get Issue 8 as I'm currently convinced that I'm reading many better books.

Good to know, Richard. But what I meant was, can you suggest a non-JB title to us to try? What is your favorite book that is not getting enough attention? (since you are buying DP anyways.)

The problem is I'm not really buying many comics at the moment (3 a month excluding DP), so it's a limited list.

How about Thunderbolts - proof that M****L can realise they've made a mistake. I bought 1 and 3 at the same time as buying DP 5 and 6. Fun superheroics with a twist (particularly at the end of 1).
