Someone's looking to do a Blood of the Demon for Noble Causes swap, specifically mentioning Joe, but I'm sure anyone can take it. Check the link in my signature.

Review for Fallen Angel #17 and 18

For the past months I've wondered why fans of Fallen Angel have expressed not only a natural frustration but also real dissappointment at why others have passed on this book. Having finally read FA, I understand where they are coming from. It's a dark, tragic story, featuring a protagonist capable of ruthlessness, of villains that you can almost sympathize with. It's the kind of comic an all too large segment of fans insist that publishers shoe-horn into all-ages books like Spider-Man or Batman. Yet done right, or even far better, in a book that doesn't mess with iconic characters and those same fans have trouble "getting it".

These two issues seem to be a sort of end-cap to the series , so I really can't get into any events without spoilers. However it's a good jumping on point because it gets into the motivations of three important characters. The art is quite good and reminds me a lot of Paul Smith's earlier work. I'll be following the final two issues, #19 and 20, and look forward to any future continuation of this story.

Hello All.

Well i finally managed to pick up an issue of Doom Patrol (9) last thursday and again excuse my delay getting back here to give my opinion.

I hope whoever read the issue of New Invaders i swapped, enjoyed that despite the sad fact of that title's cancellation with issue 9.

but on with DP 9 - The art as always with Byrne was fantastic - but to be honest i found the story a little cliche and old fashioned and the characters unengaging. I didn't care personally about any of them although i was interested in Vortex a little and seeing Rita was good.

However i keep coming back to my original thought - WHY should i care about this new rebooted DP? They don't have the history so to me they seem just a bunch of uninteresting lookalikes.

The good news is that i am a fan of Metamorpho so i'll stay around for a few issues to see what happens to him and also see if the characters engage me with time.

Overall i would classify DP as what i'd call 'a solid read' - it wasn't bad, but there was nothing there to get me thinking after i'd read it - back in the old days i would give 'solid reads' a lot more lattitude because with lower prices they were affordable entertainment that accomplished a purpose - i.e a comic to read and divert me for half an hour or so. Unfortunately with the price of comics these days i can only afford to pick up comics that i REALLY like month after month.

At the same visit i got Seven Soldiers, Deadshot, JSA, Hawkman and New Invaders - all of which i reread several times and could find aspects to excite and enthrall beyond 'solid read' - but i'll give it a few months to grow on me.

(Edited to remove massive amounts of negativity over the current, horrible, Invaders book...)

I felt the same way about JSA at first, and didn't pick up the book until the introduction of Hawkman in the books third year. Now JSA is a favorite of mine.
