Alex, thanks for participating and putting so much time into articulating your opinions. Glad you found rododom's message on the DCMB (shady fellow, but he means well, sometimes.)

Alex, reading your review more carefully, I too find the incest analogy offensive. If you find the Chief not a warm character that is most probably the intended characterization. This incarnation Chief is a very focused individual, moreso than the original (but not cold-blooded like in the Morrison stories.)

Tim, I read issue 7 ( i intended to buy both 7 and 8, but the store owner told me that they were sold out of 8...they only order three copies and they were gone by the time I got there)

I will post a detailed review 2morrow, I apologize for the delay but my day was as crazy as it gets and I'm tired...
Good night!
And thanks for reading the book!

I would be willing to read something if those of you who picked up issue 7 would continue on to issue 8. Byrne's books are good enough in single installments but when you get a collection together and read them all at once, you can often see patterns and other things developing, so if you guys keep reading, you may see some surprises happening.

I will take you up on this if you also buy Hard Time #12. Hopefully I can get some of you on board for the relaunch.

A little late here but I am heading to Midtown Comics tonight to buy Hard Time #12.

Alex, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on DOOM PATROL.  We disagree on what makes a great comic book, and neither of us is likely to continue following the titles we tried, but participating in a swap was still a neat experience for me.

Has anyone participating in a swap decided to pick up DOOM PATROL (or the other book) on a regular basis?

By the way, Jon (of Ultimate Comics) convinced me to give JSA a try.  Well, if issue #s 68 & 69 are any indication, then I'll have to add this series to my 2005 pull list!  (ACTION COMICS, BLACK PANTHER, BLOOD of the DEMON, DOOM PATROL, and JSA?  Hmmmm...)

You're doing yourself a favor with JSA. Great book there.

Ed - Ernest had already swapped Hard Time with Howard.

Wallace - Here and there we seem to be picking up new regular readers. Howard and Bart Foster for example. I haven't been doing any tallies, but it seems like there are more "thanks, but no thanks" reactions.

I picked up DP #8 at the comic shop yesterday, completing my swap with Mark McKay. I could do a full review on it like I did #7, but it wouldn't be any better than the previous one. In fact, it would probably be worse. It's too bad I was hoping that this issue would provide me the little nudge I needed to check out the Metamorpho story, but it did just the opposite. Poor dialogue and an uncompelling, unsatisfying story did this title in for me.

Anyone that wants to do a BotD swap, though, just let me know.

That's too bad Brian. Thanks again for partipating and for encouraging folks on other boards to play here as well. BTW what do you think of this message board Brian? Not half as terrifying as some folks make it out to be, eh?

It was my pleasure to participate. I had fun. Like I've said before I really like the idea of comic swaps I think it can do a lot of good for all the books out there and not just one or two.

As for these boards, well I've only been to this thread, so I can't comment on anything other than this, but there's a good bunch of gents involved in this thread. I love seeing this much commitment to a book. Most times people just want to complain rather than doing anything about it themselves, but here you actually see people trying to do something.

Just thought I'd pass along the heads up, someone's interested in doing a trade on the Richard Dragon DCMB. He's willing to try DP if someone gives New Invaders a shot. He also asked that someone post a swap thread on the Comic Boards' New Invaders forum. I think New Invaders may be a good place to get a decent number of DP swaps.
