Hey, I'm up for this. I'll read Doom Patrol for someone, if they'll
pick up either Cable & Deadpool, Small Gods, or Lions, Tigers &
Bears.

What are Small Gods and Lions, Tigers and Bears? (Publisher, concept, etc.) The former sounds familiar, but I don't recognize the latter at all.

Small Gods is an Image book. It's a present-day cop drama with psychic powers.
Lions, Tigers & Bears is a new Image book (issue 1 was meant to be
coming out on Jan 27th, but I don't see it on shipping lists, so you
might want to go for something else). It's an all-ages story with a
preview at the Newsarama forums (argh, I can't paste in links?).
Ryan - cheers, I'll grab Doom Patrol on Thursday (that being new comics day this side of the Atlantic).

Sarah,
We had a holiday yesterday, so our new books should be Thursday this week as well. I'll pick up what I can find. I've never read anything with Deadpool, and that might be the easiest to locate. I hope you like DP, feel free to check out the pencil scans from previous issues in the Galleries section linked on the main page. John's art is looking superb as always.

Ryan already covered you, but in case he changes his mind, I'll keep an eye out for Lions, Tigers and Bears.

On the Geoff Johns board, Manhunter writer Marc Andreyko said this:
"ok, i'll pick up all the issues of DP tomorrow at the comic store (do i need to read the JLA arc, too?) and i will post my thoughts here. i hope all 7 of the Manhunter swap folks will take the time to post their reactions as well. i'm anxious to see what they think!

Review of WE3 #2.
As part of my deal with Peter Hicks I bought WE3 #2. I also back ordered #1 but my LCS received this first. I'll post a review of that when I get it, and if it changes my impression on this issue.
The story: Three animals that are being used as government weapons have escaped and are trying to go back home to their owners. This issue has lots of blood and guts action when the 3 animals fend off an attack by soldiers.
The good: The art is incredible the detail that Quitely puts in a panel is amazing. Add in the fact that the panels are sometimes just little blocks inside of a panel makes it more attractive.
This issue had very little dialogue, mostly action. Having said that it was still easy to pick up on the story of a government plot to hold wars with animals, and that some girl set them free. (Not sure who the girl is or what part she plays in the government)
The bad: The really big dog at the end of the issue didn't evoke any reaction except a chuckle for the cliffhanger. The idea of the government using animals as soldiers is a neat concept but seeing them in these weird outfits is funny to look at.
I'm not an animal lover by nature so it is kind of hard to cheer these animals on. Especially in the fact that they kill anyone that is hostile to them. Since I already ordered #1, I'll probably buy issue 3 as well just to finish the story out. It is done well enough to want to see it end, but I don't think I would buy this on any regular basis if it continued on as a regular series.

Review of Manhunter #6.
As part of the seven JBF members buying Manhunter in exchange for writer Marc Andreyko buying DP # 1-7.
The story: Prosecuter Kate Spencer is working on the trial against the Shadow Thief for the murder of Firestorm.
The good: This was the begining of a new story arc and it let the reader know all about Kate Spencer the person. A troubled past with her father was dealt with, as well as her problems with getting custody of her son.
The use of the Claculator, and tying up loose ends to Identity Crisis was well done. It also gave new mysteries on to whom is bankrolling the assasination of the Shadow Thief. It got you hooked into the story and left you wanting more for the next issue. The issuing of summons to the JLA was a funny scene as well.
The bad: Didn't really give the reader much insight into Spencer's alter ego, Manhunter. We only see the character in costume at the end of the story. I don't know her powers or how she came to be the Manhunter.
Overall I liked this book. The art by Saiz and Palmiotti was very well done, and the story (although lacking on the super hero side) was laid out very well. It kept with continuity of previous DC events, and laid the groundwork for not only this current storyline but for future stories as well. I will seek this book out again next month and keep reading it.

Good to know that both Mark M. and Paul like Manhunter. I look forward to buying it tomorrow.
What's so cool is that everyone who has participated here, some of you multiple times, are really stepping up for your favorite books, and being open minded enough to find new faves too. Sure beats the fanboys who can't find it in themselves to do something other than bash, bash, bash.
BTW, anyone interested in the offer for Savage Dragon. Our Trevor Giberson likes the book, and the man has pretty good tastes.
