Sounds fun, I'll play:

Spider-Man: India; #3 is set to be in stores Wendsday, though at the place I shop 1 and 2 were on the shelves last time I went (Wednsday)

And for those looking to switch it up from superherodom:

Mary Jane (extremely soap-opery, so be warned); issue 5 is in store this March, and the trade collecting 1-4 is out there as well.

Hey Fabrice, there are two non-DP readers who do not have exchange partners yet. Check out my posts above for what James Hunter and and Bruce Pristine are proposing.

Here's the fourth swap by proxy from the Geoff Johns board: the writer of the new DC series Manhunter, Marc Andreyko,  has this offer for us:

ok, how about this deal: i'll go buy ALL the issues of byrne's DP today and read 'em if 7 DP guys try Manhunter! (and i'll even post a review here of what i thought of the book!

deal?

While the fairest thing is a title for title exchange, an endorsement from Mr. Andreyko could get many of his fans to check out Doom Patrol. Should we make an exception in this case?

Here's the originating thread:

Here's my review of Bloodhound #7. When I first heard of this book I got the vague impression that it was a non-superhero book in a jailhouse setting, which was odd because DC's Hard Time was about that too.  I didn't associate Leonard Kirk's elegant JSA pencils with a grim 'n gritty kind of book. I decided to pass on Bloodhound. Having read #7, I wish I followed it from the beginning.

The main character Clevenger is an undercover FBI agent who is trying to discover the identity of a mind-controlling mutant inside a jail. Posing as an inmate is no real problem for him, as he is one tough guy. In fact, Clevenger is so tough he can even shrug off super powered attacks, which is why he is the FBI's "bloodhound" after supervillains. The character reminds me a lot of Frank Miller's Sin City heroes, and even of Conan because he takes incredible degrees of abuse yet keeps battling on towards victory. I can understand why fans of Bloodhound are so enthusiastic; this character is interesting in all the ways the Punisher was when he took on superheroes without powers. Yet the Bloodhound doesn't have the revenge obsession that made the Punisher hard to relate to (to most of us, I hope.) Issue #7 is the conclusion of the jailhouse story and it was a very dramatic, charged conclusion. I'll have to seek out the previous chapters.

DC has announced this title cancelled at #10. Let's hope we see more of Clevenger in the future.

Hey DP fans, we still have swap offers still on the table:

Jacob Secrest - Spider-Man: India #3 , Mary Jane

Bruce Pristine - Fallen Angel #19 , Aquaman , Manhunter

And there's the offer by writer Marc Andreyko to read and review all of the new Doom Patrol if seven of us pick up his DC book Manhunter . I myself had accepted this offer, so we really need only more six participants at this point.

Remember, every offer we accept means a possible new regular reader for Doom Patrol. And you might just discover your second favorite comic after Doom Patrol too !

Joe, I will be picking up the first Invincible TPB as per my swap with Ron, but you can add me to the Manhunter list. I'll pick up the latest issue.

Now we need five more participants...

Manhunter is definitely a book worth taking a look at and getting a review by another creator can be a great benefit to DP as well. And if you don't want to take my biased word for it, check out Mark McKay's review of Manhunter #3-4 a few pages back.

I went to my comic book shop yesterday. I wanted to try Manhunter or Aquaman, but they were both sold out. I ended up buying Marvel Team-Up again, and frankly it is as close as can be to a Marvel book. I think Kirkman and Kolins are building their own little Marvel Universe with this book. Great stuff.

Joe, let me know if there are new swap title I can try to buy in next week's comics.

Cool, Fabrice !

Would you like to be part of Mr. Andreyko's Manhunter offer?

BTW, what is that picture in your avatar? Looks scary...

Joe,

Count me in for Manhunter #6.

Avatar : that's me! I was an extra on the new movie from Takashi Miike : "Yôkai daisensô" ("The Big Spook War") two weeks ago. Lots of fun, lots of monsters. I think I will be part of the final cut (5 scenes shot in one day). The movie will open in August in Japan.
