Finally pulled out my old longbox with my JBNM collection. I'm missing two issues - #2 & #8, but I do have the rest through #30. So, time to catch up!

O.K.   Time now for my next boneheaded idiot question.   In Issue # 27, Part 1 of "Lies," What exactly happens to Sandy in the end?   It appears to me that as she lies in her hospital bed on page fourteen, almost like some invisible person wraps her cords around invisible hands before yanking them out.

Am I crazy or what?   Wallace, I bet you have an answer for this.   Wallace or anyone, what am I missing?

I am such an idiot.  She does it herself with her own power.   I am such an idiot.

The Sandy storyline is my favorite of the series. I assume she killed herself, I just hope she hasn't really died, though. Too much untapped potential there.

I reread the entire series the past couple of weeks. Great story and great series. John's art appeared better in my eyes this time than when I first read it those many years ago. I have to admit I didn't like it back then. The black and white printing really helped me make my mind this time around. JB's style has changed a bit since then, though, and the new colorist is a better fit (in Matt's defense coloring techniques have improved quite a bit the past 15 years).

****

I've really loved seeing B&W comic art through the Marvel ESSENTIALS editions, so the the B&W printing of NEXT MEN was such a gift.

And of course all of the original commissioned art we see here on the forum is in B&W, and that has been a wild ride over the years.  I've really come to love the art in B&W in the last decade.  I'm bringing it all back home to the STAR LORD days!

Taking a wee break from the drawing board -- thought I would mention I am probably about an hour away (once I get back to drawing) from finishing the second new issue. Just backgrounds on one page left to do. Then, come Monday, I dive into the third issue!

The Sandy storyline was one of my faves of all the arcs too... I loved the different looks she took on in every panel toward the end. The "suicide" could be seen in a different light, the tubes being disconnected could mean more than one thing, I mean she did have all that power right? She pretty much resurrected all of Manhattan!

I do have plans for Sandy. There! I gave it all away!

However, those plans do not involve this new series. She belongs to That Which Lies Beyond!

Can't wait for this series to return.

Got out the tpbs and the phone books. Been reading both. I love seeing it in color and b/w.
