I recently finished rereading the "Power" story arc, and just moved into the first issue of "Lies" this morning. I've picked up on a couple of things I missed the first few times around. I don't think I noticed Thomas Kirkland slipping the explosives in Janey's backpack while her back is turned. I also just realized that Control had placed a tracker in the picture frame of Tony's deceased husband Joe.In addition, Kirkland makes a comment during one of his conversations with Janey that I think may be one of those pieces of groundwork JB laid for what we will see in the upcoming JBNM stories.

She and Jazz are really the stars of the book, in my mind, and these final issues (however many there turn out to be) will underscore that. --- Music to my ears! And coming from way outta left field... I think Matt Webb did an admirable job coloring JBNM, but I hope that the new colorist finds a better hue for Tony's lips.

Very glad to hear that you are liking Ronda's colors. Even more good news to get me excited for this!
Also, I have to agree that Tony is a favorite character of mine. She is outstanding and not what I expected when the series first started. So even more goodness to look forward to look forward too!

Always a good sign in a superhero comic, when the non superpowered characters are as interesting and important as the superpowered group.

I enjoy comics with "superpowered" characters more when there are interesting normal people with whom they can interact.

Yeah.Tony's lips. Never live that down.Coloring has changed a lot since those old days. Back then we were still painting guides with a certain limit to color(or maybe it was just my own limitations) and having the seperations done in house at Dark Horse. Now days we use Photoshop (well they did back then too but you know what I mean). I'm glad they actually hold up as well as they do,after all I was a very young guy back then and it was a cool experience to say the least. Oh and Wallace, thank you.

You're welcome, Matt. Are there any JBNM issues that were particularly challenging and/or fun for you to color? What are you working on these days?

Yes! They all were! John was very good at imparting what he wanted and it always worked, especially with the limitations back then ( ya had to be there!) . There was one color treatment that we tried and it did not work and John changed into what we used to call "the kill shot" I.E solid red! Brilliant as far as I'm concerned! I hope it's used again! I must say that my time on that book was amazing! I was as caught up in the story just as much as you all are/were. My privilege was to be able to read them a few months ahead of time! I"m gonna buy the new issues! I hope you all will too!

Thanks to Joss for the Question about Jack's whereabouts. I re-read the four issues of "Lies" over the weekend, and there's not much Jack in those issues. Not much chance of us seeing much more of Control after this, huh? No, but I miss Jack the most. Since Kirkland says there is no record of the Next Men until Father John Kavanaugh's memoirs are published in 2030, that either means they do not return to that time period or they do, but are living a very quiet existence on the down-low.

I kind of think that Jack is my favorite character. I feel like his ability and his personality are completely independent. He is capable of the greatest violence, yet I feel like he is the most sensitive and reluctant to employ his power. I know, some of you will argue that scenes like in the sneak peek where he is crushing someone's hand or in Issue # 0 when he smashes in the faces of the guards that he is not reluctant. But I think he only uses his power when he absolutely has no choice. Which makes me desperate to know more about the circumstances that lead to his actions in the sneak peek.

I have great faith in JB that Jack will be returning at some point, in a big way. But, right now there are very slim leads on what is going on with Jack. He's not in the group that gets snatched through the openings in Issue # 30. This is my pitch to JB for more story, or expanding the number of issues, at least by a little bit. Every issue is a cliffhanger. Every page is a cliffhanger. Every panel is a cliffhanger. So, you will all want to kill me for suggesting this: Insert a fill-in issue for the penultimate before the last issue, telling more flashbacks from the Greenery.
